On July 22, 2025 we unexpectedly lost our littlest lady, our waggiest buns, our tippy-tappiest white socks. Siri was the brightest, most affectionate presence in our lives. Our home is darker (and much quieter) without her.
Adelia adopted Siri at 12 weeks old and was immediately made the recipient of all her muddy and chaotic love. When Jack first met Siri six years later, he tried to rub his face on her belly and was (well-deservedly) kicked several times in the head; they later became best friends, and remained so for the rest of her life.
At 12 years Siri was just as much a puppy as ever, even as she quietly developed metastatic hemangiosarcoma cancer. It took her from us only five days after it was first detected.
The Canine Cancer Alliance and Yale are developing a new immunotherapy to combat the spread and recurrence of canine cancer, which has shown efficacy against hemangiosarcoma. It offers hope to a terrible diagnosis, and we would have enrolled Siri if we had more time.
