English: In September of 2015, Ariana met Jack at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Jack was a Foilist on the Fencing team, which Ariana happened to join. Throughout Fencing practice, Ariana and Jack would share loving glances with one another but rarely engaged in conversation. In January of 2016, Ariana finally saw Jack outside of Fencing practice. At the renowned Oil Spill party, Jack and Ariana ended up sitting on a bunkbed, staying up and talking till 3 AM. They shared their life stories and got to know one another. On a dare, and in an attempt to impress Ariana, Jack took a bite out of a raw potato (which to this day, is not known why it was at the party). He later walked her to her dorm, where they exchanged numbers and bid each other goodnight. For the next few weeks, Jack and Ariana would make several attempts to see each other. This included Ariana leaving her water bottle at practice (more than once) in hopes he would stop by her dorm to deliver it. On the eve of their becoming a couple, Jack and Ariana were headed to a Fencing competition. Ariana, ridden with motion sickness, laid down on the bus seat. Jack then took it upon himself to read her a collection of poems by Jorge Luis Borges to make her feel better. At long last, in February of 2016, Jack and Ariana made it official. They had a lovely indoor picnic, followed by their official debut at the President's Ball. Seven years later, they are tying the knot! English: Since Jack knew he was going to marry Ariana for years before the official proposal, it's not completely honest that the day he gave her the ring was the first time he had proposed. There were many romantic strolls through the streets and parks of Boston, late-night talks, and lazy Sunday mornings where he had told Ariana he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. That being said, the official proposal needed to be a level above all the other casual declarations of love that he had made a habit of making (maybe a little too often). It started with nearly 6 months of planning decoy proposals. He had planned a romantic Valentine's Day harbor cruise, a trip to Iceland, and a trip to New York so that even he wasn't sure which trip he would be proposing. As the trips drew closer, it became clear to Jack that he was going to propose in New York. From a lovely stroll through Central Park to the American Museum of Natural History and Levain Bakery, Jack and Ariana walked around the city of New York, eating amazing food and seeing wonderful sights. On June 12th, Jack and Ariana had plans to take the subway to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, followed by a showing of Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Jack grew very nervous as he tried to coordinate their arrival with Dorothy, a close friend willing to hide in the bushes to take engagement photos. As Jack rustled around his adventure bag and seemed to know an awful lot about the plants in season, Ariana had grown suspicious. Under the soft rain, Jack stopped Ariana and held her close. Surrounded by water lilies, he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. He told Ariana how much he loved her and how he wished to continue to grow and build their life together. He asked her if she would marry him, to which Ariana excitedly jumped up and down. She said yes!
