Take a stroll through downtown Ketchum and check out some of the stores, restaurants, and breweries!
The Wood River Bike Path runs all the way from Griffin Butte (north of Ketchum) to Bellevue! It is smooth, scenic, and an awesome route for a stroll, run, or bike ride! Parking at the YMCA in Ketchum allows you easy access to the path (it's right next to the parking lot) and the path is well marked whether you head to the north or the south!
Travel past the Sun Valley Gun Club (on the map) until you see the Boundary Campground Day Use Area on the right. There, you can picnic, take a dip in Trail Creek, or go for some easy/moderate hikes.
There's a decent little river spot underneath the foot bridge near the hospital. To access, either take the bike path south from Ketchum, or park just north of the bridge and walk there. As you're traveling north, as soon as you pass the hospital (St. Lukes) and reach the bridge on the highway, the foot bridge and river spot will be to your left.
Bald Mountain has mountain biking! Whether you want to do some lift laps or climb for yourself, there are plenty of options. The linked Sun Valley website has more, but River Run lodge is going to be your standing point. They offer bike rentals too! Be sure to check out the trail map so you can find your way around.
Galena is one of the MOST fun places to mountain bike around here. The trails are smooth, flowy, and well maintained, and there is plenty of variety for all skill levels. The lodge offers bike rentals, and food as well. Plus there is hiking too. We definitely recommend it if you have the time!
Forbidden Fruit is an easily accessible flow trail just north of town via Adam's Gulch. Parking at the trailhead and riding up will get you there. It's short enough to lap, but just once will still give you a good workout and a great time. Also, there are some great hiking routes from the trailhead as well!
A longer and more challenging loop, but also super rewarding. From town, take Warm Springs Road past Frenchman's Hot Springs (several miles out) to the wide turnout with the bathrooms. Park there, and then continue on Warm Springs Road until it branches into North Fork Warm Springs. Follow that, and you will climb up to the Red Warrior Trail, which will loop you back down to where you parked. This is DEFINITELY one to map out beforehand, as the forest service roads and trails are extensive out that direction.
Greenhorn Gulch is a popular hiking and biking spot. If you're riding, the Greenhorn/Imperial loop is a local favorite and is a hearty climb with a fun descent. For hiking, any of the trails stemming from the trailhead are well worth exploring. Bring the pups too!
Wanna gravel ride? Wanna go FAR? Warm Springs Road is a solid choice! Take the road from town, stop when it turns to gravel (not far) and go for it! It will take you all the way to Boise if you're feeling so inclined. The road follows Warm Springs Creek, and has solid views and opportunities to jump in and cool off along the way.
Most of Trail Creek Road between town and the wedding venue is gravel - how convenient! You can start from Wild Horse Creek Ranch, from town, or anywhere in between and ride away! There is loads of exploring to do, so if you plan on bringing a gravel grinder (or even a mountain bike) this is worth doing.
