Highest pub in Africa at the Sani Mountain Lodge
This is the highest pub in Africa and situated on the border between South Africa and Lesotho. The pub is 2874m above sea level and boasts some beautiful views. The trip to the pub follows the mountain pass and can be a tricky, so keep this mind. There are tours of the pass available as well. It is approximately a 45minute drive from the venue. Don't forget to pack your passport.
Kenmo Lake
A quick 10 minute drive from the venue along a dirt road. The lake is situated on private land that is open to the public. A great place to do some birding, have a picnic or take a relaxing walk.
Himeville Arms
A charming 110 year old pub in the quaint town of Himeville. A great place to go for a drink.
Drakenberg Hikes
Underberg is based in the Southern Drakensberg and offers many great hiking trails. To find out more about each trail and their level of difficulty please refer to the All Trails website.
Horse riding
For those wanting to take in the scenery without taking a strenuous hike there are great horse riding trails in the area. Please visit the website for more information.
Midlands meander
A great place to explore on your way from Johannesburg to Underberg. The meander offers beautiful scenery and many quaint restaurants and shops. It's about a 2 hour drive to the venue but worth a visit.
