The High Peaks Wilderness of the Adirondack Mountains is a special place for Devin and Hunter. There they have shared many hikes and excursions, against the backdrop of a pristine wilderness and the humble charm of Keene Valley and Lake Placid, NY. Both are well on their way to hiking all 46 of New York's highest peaks with the goal of becoming "46ers"!
Saratoga Spa State Park is a timeless preserve underscoring Saratoga's natural and cultural history. Devin and Hunter have shared many moments in the park taking prom photos, picnicking, fishing, reading, snowshoeing and attending concerts at the included Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC). It is also home to many significant cultural buildings that are part of Saratoga Springs long history in hospitality and health.
The Saratoga National Historic Park preserves the battlefields that made Saratoga the "Turning Point" of the American Revolution. Visit the park to gain a glimpse of the region's deeply routed colonial history. Here Hunter has participated in historical reenactments and shared bike rides with Devin. A thirty minute drive from Saratoga Springs, Lake George offers great many hikes and scenic opportunities. Additionally, visit the historic Lake George Battlefield Park, Fort William Henry or cruise on one of the famous steamboats. This is the setting of James Fenimore Cooper's "The Last of the Mohicans" and real-world French and Indian War history.
