When we met depends on who you ask - Jake is fond of telling people "we met at a bar" because that's technically correct. We first met at a bar called Harvest (which has since burned down and was rebuilt into a Panera) in spring 2016 on Penn's campus. It was Lindsey's senior year of college, and Jake was back visiting some friends for the weekend. We only had a quick conversation that night, but it made an impression on both of us. Lindsey says we actually met in Jake's apartment in NYC, when a group of mutual friends (including three members of the wedding party!) were hanging out on a Thursday night during the summer of 2016. The group went out for drinks that night, and despite internally being a total grandpa, Jake was determined to stay up past his bedtime in order to get another chance to talk to Lindsey. Jake asked Lindsey to go on a proper date, and the rest is history! We got engaged in April 2019 in Madison Square Park in Manhattan, which was a few blocks away from our apartment at the time. Jake asked Lindsey if she wanted to "go read books in the park." Lindsey knew that Jake had bought the ring weeks earlier, so she didn't exactly fall for the ruse. When we got to the park, Jake considered actually reading the books we had brought, but he couldn't hold back his excitement and immediately proposed! We enjoy revisiting the bench where Jake proposed whenever we're in the area, and we even took some of our engagement photos there! We never imagined that we would be engaged for two and a half years or that we would have to postpone our wedding due to a global pandemic, but in a way it worked out perfectly -- now we will finally be getting married almost exactly five years after our first date.
