It was a match made in high school

Well, technically it all started at the 2008 Beck Middle School Geography Bee. Scott won first place, distinguishing correctly between the Maya and the Aztecs, and Rebecca came in second (she's over it, it's fine). Rebecca remembers Scott from their freshman English class at Cherry Hill East because he had an encyclopedic knowledge of mythology. Scott remembers Rebecca as the "short, pretty girl" who always had the right answer in class. They started dating at the end of their sophomore year. Scott would’ve asked Rebecca out sooner, but he somehow broke his pelvis playing in a temple softball league. Their first date was to the movies (Midnight in Paris), chauffeured by their parents. The two shared lots of high school memories—multiple classes together, choir concerts, navigating the SATs and their driving tests, their senior trip to Disney World complete with a "promposal," junior and senior proms, and a fortuitous high school graduation day—You're welcome, Adam and Talia!! Rebecca and Scott went off to college and, while building independent lives, took trains and buses up and down the I-95 corridor for weekend visits and formals. After college, Rebecca moved to the nation’s capital and they finally started their new adult life together. They took trips to Florida to visit their beloved Rory, celebrated holidays and attended family weddings, explored D.C.’s restaurant scene, and traveled with their siblings and their friends. They moved in together in Logan Circle in 2019 but didn’t even make it a full year in their basement apartment before the pandemic struck and they took refuge with their parents. After a tumultuous 2020, Rebecca started law school and the two moved to Ann Arbor in 2021. Shortly after celebrating 10 years together, Scott proposed as the sun set over Lake Michigan while on vacation in Saugatuck, MI. D.C. will always be home, and Scott and Rebecca can't wait to celebrate their wedding there with loved ones!
