Hannah and Kyle met the day they moved into college at UC Santa Cruz, on September 21, 2012, and they've been together ever since. It started with unloading boxes into their dorm rooms and Hannah holding the door for Kyle. They exchanged phone numbers in the dining hall around a crowded table of new faces, and that night, Kyle won a stuffed animal for Hannah at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. After just three days, he asked her to be his girlfriend, and she said no (three days is crazy, right??). A week later, he asked again, and this time, she said yes! They took a few classes together (and Hannah always beat Kyle’s grades by 1 or 2 points, proving she’s truly the smarter one!). From move-in day to graduation, they were by each other’s sides, supporting one another through internships, late nights in the library, and everything in between. After graduating as proud Banana Slugs, they made a deal: whoever landed a job first would decide where they would live. That’s how they ended up in sunny San Diego. Over the past 13 years, they’ve built a life together by the coast. On their 10th anniversary, Kyle proposed to Hannah with their closest friends and family. After years in Encinitas, they settled in Carlsbad and bought their first beach home. Now they have a "child" (their puppy, Pogo!). From Kyle's lifeguarding, surfing, and running to Hannah’s pottery, spin classes, baking, and walks, North County San Diego has become their forever home. Their home may always be covered in sand, but it’s a price they’re happy to pay. Hannah and Kyle feel so lucky to have grown up together, and even luckier to be surrounded by the people who’ve supported them through it all. Thank you for being part of their story.
