This story always makes us laugh because we both have our own renditions. Brendan and I both attended East Carolina University. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega (fraternity) and I was in Alpha Xi Delta (sorority). Our organizations planned functions together and we both knew of one another but, were not formally introduced. Senior year, AXiD and ATO had a biker themed social. My best friend Brittany had her high school brother in town and we were trying to get him to come to this pregame party that was being held at some of the fraternity brother’s house. This so called “unofficial” party was exclusive and we were told that all partygoers needed to belong to one of the organizations because anyone they didn’t know would be a liability. Well if you know my friends, they are a strong willed group of women. This didn’t sit well with us and because we all had the home-made party juice (clarification: a lot of the party juice) in our systems, we decided to go to the people who lived in the house/were hosting the party. Lucky Brendan was our poor victim of choice and while most the other guys were trying to be nice and explain to us they didn’t want an underage kid because of “liability” (again-because everyone there was 21 haha) Brendan stuck his fingers in his ears and said “not my problem- I don’t care” and walked away. A true gentleman. In his defense now, the cops had already come by twice due to noise complaints. Fast forward to post college world-I lived in Raleigh with my best friend Mackenzie, and Brendan with his best friend Matt. We all went to a group dinner by chance and once again, I couldn’t stand him. I was on a couch cuddling with our friends dog and he walked in, and called the dog over when I was really clearly playing with him. Poor second interaction. As time went on, we hung out on a more cordial note, and the rest is history! Now we are the parents of the literal best dog in the world and are SO looking forward to celebrating with yall!
