Travel Note

Getting to Florence

There are really three routes you can go to get to Florence, Italy. All have been well tested and are all within reason. Option A - fly from the US to Rome Airport (FCO) and take a high-speed train into Florence. Option B - fly from the US to a European hub and with a connecting flight land at Florence Airport (FLR). Option C - fly from the US to Rome Airport (FCO) and rent a car for the weekend as there is parking available at every accommodation for guests' use. If you were to ask us which option to choose we would say Option A and book a roundtrip ticket to Rome and utilize roundtrip tickets on the high-speed trains in Italy. This option is detailed below: direct US Flight --> Rome Airport (FCO) --> local train to Roma Termini --> high-speed train to Santa Maria Novella, Florence For all guests, whether you are arriving Friday morning from the U.S. or from traveling elsewhere in Italy or Europe, a shuttle will be provided from Santa Maria Novella to accommodations for our wedding weekend. Please see the details below.

Flight

Flight into Rome

Both United and American Airlines offer similar direct flights into Rome Fiumicino Airport out of the majority of US hubs. These flights are overnight flights. They take off roughly between 3 pm-6 pm US time and land the following day between 7 am-10 am Italian time.

Train

Train to Roma Termini

After landing in Rome, going through customs, and collecting bags, if needed, you will follow signs to the train. This is a local train from the airport into "downtown" Rome. The main train station in Rome is Roma Termini. This leg of the journey is around 30 minutes and trains depart the airport every 15-30 minutes. We suggest buying these tickets online so you can book your roundtrip ticket. Otherwise you can buy tickets at the ticket window or ticket machines on the platform. Note when buying online you will select Fiumicino Aeroporto to Roma Termini. The tickets will be scanned on the station platform prior to boarding the train. Reminder - the pre-arranged shuttle will leave just outside Santa Maria Novella train station at 3:00pm (15:00).

Train to Santa Maria Novella

Upon arriving at Roma Termini in Rome there are many shops and cafes to grab a coffee or a quick bite to eat before getting on your high-speed train to Santa Maria Novella, the main train station in Florence. While you can book a ticket at Roma Termini we suggest booking your ticket online prior to departing the US so you can buy a roundtrip ticket. Online you will put in Roma Termini to Firenze S. M. Novella. Once you find your train's platform your ticket will reference what car and what seat you selected. These tickets are scanned prior to entering the platform and on the train. The train ride is roughly an hour and fifteen minutes. Reminder - the pre-arranged shuttle will leave just outside Santa Maria Novella train station at 3:00pm (15:00).

Shuttle from Santa Maria Novella to Accommodation

An optional shuttle is pre-arranged for our guests from Piazzale Montelungo, a 7 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella, to the two listed accommodations below on Friday, August 30th at 3:00 pm (15:00). The option to take this bus will be part of your RSVP. This ride is roughly 30 minutes. The exact location of the pick-up is Piazzale Montelungo. If your plans include staying in Florence and arriving at the bus pick up spot on Friday afternoon from Florence we suggest taking a taxi to Piazzale Montelungo (Stazione Hub Montelungo). If your travel plans include getting to Florence via train on Friday afternoon get to the bus pick up location by getting off your train and walking towards the front of the station, BEFORE leaving the track area turn left and walk along Track 16 until the very end of the track. You will pass the train police station keep going until you see the long ramp heading down to the busses. If you hit Track 18 you have gone too far.

Villa Dei Bosconi

Hotel Villa dei Bosconi is located in an enviable position on the hills of Fiesole, a fifteen minute drive from Castello del Trebbio, completely immersed in a beautiful natural landscape. We have pre-arranged lovely accommodations for our guests. The hotel includes its own cafe bar, pool, and daily maid service. Parking is available should guests rent their own car.

House Or Rental

Castello del Trebbio

We have exclusively rented out Castello del Trebbio which will hold some guests for the weekend and is the site for all of our wedding festivities including our Welcome Dinner, Ceremony, and Farewell Brunch. The Castello holds villas, apartments, three pools and a gift shop. Parking is available should guests choose to rent their own car.
