Florianopolis is a beautiful tropical island (5x the size of Manhattan). The airport is located on the island, making access to accommodations quick and easy. The further South you go, the more virgin nature you'll find, therefore lots of hiking, beautiful beaches and less structure. The further North you go, you'll find historical Portuguese landmarks, beach clubs, restaurants and so on. Find lots of information on where to stay/explore on the WHAT TO DO tab of our website - in case you're planning on exploring Florianopolis. Our wedding ceremony will happen on Saturday, around the Lagoon area (right in the center of the island): search for LAGOA DA CONCEICAO location, or more specific - CANTO DA LAGOA. We highly encourage our guests to stay around the area for easy transportation and access to the party. Ubers are available and easy to get, there are all sorts of accommodation in the area: hotels, hostels, airbnbs and inns.

Starting on April 10th, 2025, an e-visa will be required for all US tourists visiting Brazil. It's a straightforward online process in which you'll need to type in your passport info and upload a picture against a white wall. The fee costs $80, website for application is linked! You'll receive a confirmation and status of processing. We incentivize everyone to apply over a month prior to the trip, to avoid any issues.
Flight
The island of Florianopolis has an airport (25-30 min drive from the area of the ceremony). You won't be able to find direct flights from the US to Florianopolis - so a layover in Sao Paulo (Guarulhos International airport) or Rio de Janeiro (GIG) will be necessary. Make sure to leave enough time on your layover to go through customs and change terminals / security, if necessary! The flight from these capitals to Florianopolis is short: around 1 hr and 15 minutes. *there are multiple airports in Sao Paulo, just like in NY, make sure you connect on the same airport you land. Greg has previously made that mistake lol. The plane ticket tends to be the heavier expense when going to Brazil, buying it ahead of time makes a huge difference. Setting price alerts from your preferred airline might help as well. I always find flights on SkyScanner and then purchase directly through the airline website.

As any other capital in the world, you have to be smart with your belongings and surroundings. Don't hesitate to message us if any questions!

We encourage people in groups to get a nice, spacious house in LAGOA DA CONCEICAO area on Airbnb! Currency is in our favor for this so you will find amazing deals. We created an Airbnb wishlist with lots of houses for the dates around the wedding. We're always adding more houses that become available.
