FAQs

Question

Do I need a visa to go to Brazil?

Answer

Unfortunately, yes! If you're American, starting April 10th, an e-visa will be necessary. The process is really straightforward, you will find more info on the tab travel. But copy and paste this link to your browser to apply: https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/information

Question

ARE THERE ANY TRANSFERS BEING PROVIDED FOR THE EVENTS?

Answer

We are providing transfers for Friday's Welcome Party, since the location is a bit far from the Lagoon area (where Saturday's big wedding day is). Vans will depart at 3 PM in front of Hotel Boutique Quinta das Videiras in the Lagoon area, and will return at 10 pm after the Welcome Party ends. Ubers are also available at all times if you prefer to take your time. Party is from 4-10 pm.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

December is the same as early June in the US. The average temperature is of 72.5 F. Maybe hotter during the day! Humid. We really hope it doesn't rain on the big day, but if it does, we have a plan B and C.

Question

What else should I do when I'm there?

Answer

It all depends on how much time you have! If you're going to make it a shorter trip, there are so many beautiful beaches in Florianópolis to explore, hike, or simply just relax. Check our THINGS TO DO section!! If you have a little more time, we highly recommend exploring destinations that are within short flights: Iguazu Falls (think of Niagara, but with 275 waterfalls instead of 4, surrounded by green forests), Rio de Janeiro (for atmosphere, beaches, music), Sao Paulo (for great dining, art and urban life)... if you want to go a bit further, since you're in the South, why not Uruguay or Argentina?

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

I created an outfit inspiration folder on pinterest with some other ideas for the big day. You will find information on dress code with our tab - SCHEDULE: https://www.pinterest.com/jumarchet/ideias-de-traje-casamento-greg-ju/

Question

Do I need to bring cash in local currency: reais?

Answer

We recommend that our guests come with some cash in local currency: Brazilian Reais. The conversion rate has been at high these past years, fluctuating from 5-6 per 1 dollar. You can exchange to get some reais at the airport, at your bank, or at your most convenient exchange. We travel internationally with a WISE debit card which you can pre-load as well: https://wise.com/gb/card/. Most places will take your credit card, but still, it's always good to have some cash!! How will you buy coconut on the beach?

Question

What to expect?

Answer

We know Brazil is a far tropical destination, we are planning every detail to make sure we can accommodate our friends and family who are traveling from far. Our wedding planner team speaks English, our ceremony and speeches will be held in both languages, and we will have tags indicating translations for everything that is set to be consumed. Do not hesitate to come to us with any questions regarding tickets, accommodation, translation, transportation... we are happy to help!

Question

What's the time difference?

Answer

Brazil is +1 hr from EST, but during December when our Daylight Savings is already over, it goes to +2 hrs from EST. You probably won't have any jet lag issues!
