Lake Vouliagmeni A stunning natural thermal lake tucked beneath dramatic cliffs, known for its warm mineral-rich waters and peaceful setting. Vouliagmeni Beach Clear water, relaxed vibes, and some of the nicest swimming spots close to Athens. Astir Beach A polished, upscale beach experience with loungers, food, drinks, and calm waters. Greek food is simple, ingredient-driven, and built around sharing. These are some of the classics Eric grew up with and still orders every time he's back: Horiatiki (Greek Salad) Tomato, cucumber, olives, olive oil, and a thick slab of feta. Gyro / Souvlaki Warm pita with meat, tomato, onion, fries, and tzatziki; gyro is rotisserie-cut, souvlaki is grilled skewers. Pastitsio Baked pasta with seasoned meat and a creamy béchamel topping. Grilled Octopus Tender octopus charred over an open flame, finished with olive oil and lemon. Keftedes Avgolemono Meatballs in a classic lemon-and-egg sauce—rich, tangy, and deeply comforting. Frappe Iconic Greek iced coffee, frothy and strong. Ouzo Anise-flavored spirit traditionally enjoyed with meze. Galaktoboureko Custard-filled phyllo pastry soaked in citrus syrup. Bougatsa Light cream-filled phyllo pastry, often enjoyed in the morning. Loukoumades Bite-size fried dough balls drizzled with honey and cinnamon.
