Flying into Mexico

There are three airports NEAR San Miguel de Allende. We recommend flying into Querétaro Intercontinental Airport (QRO). This airport is approximately an hour and fifteen minutes away by car from SAN MIGUEL on a highway. Another option is flying into Guanajuato International Airport (BJX) in León. This smaller airport is approximately an hour and a half away by car on a RURAL, winding road. Another option is to fly into CIUDAD MEXICO. There are definitively more travel options when flying into Mexico City International Airport. The ride from this airport to SAN MIGUEL is approximately four hours. It can easily turn into a longer ride depending on traffic. Still, it can be a fun way to travel to SAN MIGUEL if you charter a van or bus among friends or family. There are plenty of restaurants and shops that you can stop for refreshments and snacks along the way.

Arriving at San Miguel de Allende

The historic center of San Miguel de Allende encompasses 64 blocks of narrow streets, alleys, and paths without any traffic lights. We do not recommend renting a car in SAN MIGUEL. The cobblestone streets tend to be narrow and it can be difficult to find parking. In addition, due to the DAY OF THE DEAD celebration, there is going to be a lot of traffic! Municipality ordenances come into effect during this national holiday that also affect traffic near and around ZONA CENTRO. There are plenty of ways to get into ZONA CENTRO. There are private chauffeur options, and Uber is safe and relatively inexpensive. Hotels will gladly arrange your private car transfer too. We have made arrangements at special rates for the wedding guests with a private transport company called BESTUR.
