Our shared favorite monument in D.C., there's no better place if you only have time to squeeze in one!
If you have time and energy for a full monument tour, we really like to start our walk at the MLK Memorial. It's right on the Tidal Basin, so you can loop around (away from the Mall) towards the Jefferson, back up to Washington, and then walk down the Mall to finish at Lincoln (with many additional memorials and monuments along that route). This route takes a few hours depending on how much time you spend at each stop!
Especially for our guests staying in Rosslyn, this underrated memorial is just a short walk from your hotel (and our old apartment is right next door). It also has one of the best views of the city and the National Mall anywhere in D.C. - it's one of our favorite spots to watch 4th of July fireworks.
Not many people prioritize visiting the Library of Congress, but in our opinion it's one of the most beautiful buildings in D.C. It's also right next to the Supreme Court and the Capitol, so it's well worth the stop.
This is a world-class museum, and we hope all of our guests have the opportunity to see it on this trip or another. It is a big museum, and you'll want to take your time. Please note that you still need to get timed-entry passes 30 days in advance (and they get booked up in minutes), or same-day standby tickets at 8:15am. Visit their website for more details!
This is where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution are located, and it's well-worth a quick visit to see them.
One of our favorite ways to spend any weekend morning is roaming, shopping, and dining at Eastern Market on Capitol Hill! There's a farmers' market, local artisan stands, and lots of restaurants and food stands to try. And it's a perfect walk after eating to the Library of Congress and Capitol.
From one waterfront to the other! Come check out another one of our favorite neighborhoods - Navy Yard. Home to Nats park (baseball), and full of restaurants - District Winery anchors the neighborhood on one end. Grab a glass of wine (or a flight), and then feel free to stroll along the water and stop anyplace that seems enticing!
This is a true staple in D.C. restaurant scene, and one of our favorite places to go to celebrate with a nice dinner, have a delicious sandwich for lunch, or even late-night oysters. You can't go wrong! POV (where we met) is also right next door in the W Hotel.
A part of a local family of restaurants, this is a no-nonsense place that should please everyone and is steps away from Sequoia on the Georgetown waterfront.
If you'd like to really treat yourselves, head to Filomena - many people's top choice for Italian in D.C. Fiola Mare, which is on the Georgetown Waterfront, is another great option.
For those looking for something a little different, head to this cozy French wine bar and restaurant for perfect ambiance and a delicious meal.
