Our Story

On a warm evening at the University of Kansas, at the first party of the school year, Jackson walked over to Margaret and asked a simple question, “What’s your name?” That simple question led to lighthearted teasing, easy conversation, and an instant connection. As the party carried on, we found ourselves completely wrapped up in talking to each other about everything and anything. Later that evening, Margaret snapped a photo and captioned it: “I just met my future husband.” That bold prediction, still makes her blush, but turns out to be entirely true. She says she just had a gut feeling. Meeting that night is what Margaret would call a “God Moment,” where we both happened to be in the right place at the right time. Luckily, Margaret did not go home before the party, as she had planned. From that night on, our story has been defined by shared milestones and deep intentionality, in how we love, how we grow, and how we walk through life and faith, together. From both of us graduating from KU, to Jackson’s baptism, Margaret’s acceptance into law school, Jackson starting his first job, and our welcoming our beloved Golden Doodle, Sadie, we've cherished every chapter shared side by side. Intentionality has been the center of our relationship from the very beginning. We've promised to challenge each other to become our best selves, to speak truth with love, and to always communicate with honesty and care. Above all, our faith has been the foundation of our love, the main pillar that has drawn us closer to God and to each other. Our faith has guided us to build our love rooted in grace, commitment, and joy and has shaped our vision of what a sacramental marriage means. On July 19, 2025, the next chapter of our story began. We were visiting Jackson’s grandparents with his dad’s side of the family at Table Rock Lake in Missouri, a special place for us. That Saturday morning, we spent time exploring Dogwood Canyon, hiking and touring the buffalo and elk sanctuary. Later, Jackson surprised Margaret with dinner reservations and a golf cart cocktail tour at Top of the Rock. That evening, during the golf cart ride, as the sun began to set, we stopped on a bridge overlooking the canyon, waterfall, and beautiful view of the lake in the distance. It was there that Jackson got down on one knee and asked Margaret to marry him. He was even wearing lobster socks, an intentional choice to celebrate their future and symbollism we share, as lobsters mate for life. The surprises didn’t end there. Instead of dinner at the restaurant, Jackson had planned a dinner cruise aboard the Lady Liberty Yacht. When we arrived at the marina, Jackson’s dad and stepmom were there to greet us and to Margaret’s complete shock, her parents were there, having secretly made the trip from Lawrence earlier that day. The six of us spent the evening on the water, enjoying dinner, cocktails, laughter, and a wonderful sunset. It was thoughtful, beautiful, and full of love, a perfect reflection of Jackson’s gentle and generous heart. Our story is one of faith, friendship, and the commitment to choose one another, forever. We are so grateful for the journey that brought us here, and for every person, especially our families, who have walked beside us along the way. We cannot wait to begin this new chapter, surrounded by the people we love most, and to forever be the Fagers!
