Travel Note
Ferry Update 8/24 The next block of ferry reservations is about to be released! As a reminder, it is HIGHLY recommended that you should reserve a space on the ferry if you are planning to bring a vehicle on the island. This is not a ferry ticket, but it reserves your vehicle a space on the boat. From the Washington State Ferry System the next block of reservations are: 2 weeks before each sailing date at 7:00 a.m. PST: * Additional 30% of standard vehicle space is released 2 days before each sailing date at 7:00 a.m. PST: * Final 30% of standard vehicle space is released If you’ve not yet booked a ferry, don’t worry. There are still 60% of the spaces yet to be made available. I would encourage you to set yourself a reminder and book as close to 7am as you can 14 days before your desired sail date. My planner recommended you might use more than one device to refresh the screen as the desired ferry times may go quickly. Our wedding is not the only one happening on the island that weekend.
Flight
If you are coming from out of state, the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is often the most convenient to fly to. SeaTac is located about 100 miles from the Anacortes Ferry landing, so if you fly to SeaTac, you will still need to take a ferry to the island. Rental cars are available at the airport, so you can rent a car, drive to Anacortes, and take your rental car with you on the ferry. If you aren't up for the ferry, you are also able to take a small commercial flight to Eastsound, where the small airport is located. Flights from Seattle are available. If you are coming from out of the area, you can fly into SeaTac and transfer to a smaller airline called Kenmore Air.
House Or Rental
We would recommend that you stay as close to Eastsound as possible. The Odd Fellows Hall is located just a few minutes walk from downtown, so if you aren't bringing a vehicle on the island, it will be most convenient that you stay in Eastsound. If you do bring a car on the island, there are many other small hotels, inns, and resorts to choose from that fully encapsulate the Pacific Northwest.
