Things To Do

Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum

907 Whitehead St.,

This is a must do! Kitties!!!! Welcome to the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum web site. Located at 907 Whitehead Street and nestled in the heart of Old Town Key West, this unique property was home to one of America’s most honored and respected authors. Ernest Hemingway lived and wrote here for more than ten years. Calling Key West home, he found solace and great physical challenge in the turquoise waters that surround this tiny island. Step back in time and visit the rooms and gardens that witnessed the most prolific period of this Nobel Prize winner’s writing career. Educated tour guides give insightful narratives and are eager to answer questions. Wander through the lush grounds and enjoy the whimsy of the more than forty cats that live here. The Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum is a significant address on any Key West itinerary. The museum welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world and looks forward to welcoming you!

Truman Little White House

Since 1890, history has left its mark on the Truman Little White House. Initially, it served as the naval station’s command headquarters during the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II. In 1946 the historic building first served as the winter White House of President Harry S. Truman and a site for the Cold War response by later presidents. Today, the Truman Little White House is a public, living, Key West museum as well as a retreat and place of government business by our nation's leaders.

Caroline's Cafe

310 Duval St.,

This is the home of my FAVORITE fish sandwich. This deep-fried sandwich is big enough to share but you might not want to! Caroline's is right on Duval so it's great for people watching.

DJ's Clam Shack

629 Duval Street, Key West, FL 33040
, (305) 294-0102

Kurt and I frequent this place a lot while in Key West. It has been featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. We love the cracked conch and deep-fried shrimp baskets. It's also a great place to try conch fritters.

The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory

1316 Duval Street, Key West, FL 33040
, (305) 296-2988

We've been to several butterfly gardens around the world and this is our favorite. The gift shop there sells amazing real framed butterflies if you are looking for a souvenir!

Boathouse

220 Margaret St,

This restaurant has the Best Happy Hour! There's a long list of appetizers all half price.

For all the days along the way
