Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Fan Zhou and Doug Slohm
This stunning, small island is home to idyllic beaches, an adorable and colorful town center, accommodation for every style, and potential adventures galore. Tiny but mighty, this island is so fun! Below are some recommendations from our trip and additional research, but the list doesn't stop here. Go explore yourself and let us know what other fun things you find!
Rent a Golf cart (or mountain bike) and roam around the island

Rent a Golf cart (or mountain bike) and roam around the island

This is the best way to explore the island! It costs around $50-70 USD to rent a golf cart for a whole day (gas included). Share one with your friends/family, each golf cart fits 4 people max.

Playa Norte

Playa Norte

Often listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico and even the world, Isla Mujeres’ Playa Norte is a long stretch of white sand beach on the north side of the island and is all palm trees, incredibly soft sand, and bright water.

Ixchel Ruins and Punta Sur

Ixchel Ruins and Punta Sur

Q.R., Mexico

The Mayan goddess of Ixchel ruled over fertility, medicine, happiness, and the moon–so, you know, just a few important things in life! At the very edge of the island, on the tip of Punta Sur (literally “South Point”) sits the ruins of the temple of Ixchel, along with a few other Mayan ruins. The site itself is small–certainly nothing like the full-blown Mayan cities you can visit on the mainland–but the location itself is absolutely magnificent. In addition to being a temple, Punta Sur also served as a lighthouse and looking out over the rough, rocky coast.

Tortugranja (Turtle Sactuary)

Tortugranja (Turtle Sactuary)

Q.R. 77400, Mexico

This is a small sanctuary/aquarium for turtles! Tortugranja’s main purpose is to help baby turtles hatch and reach the Caribbean Sea safely. Additionally the farm is home to several turtles who cannot currently live safely in the wild. Tickets are 30 pesos/person.
