They met in high school when Evan started working at the local movie theater where Cecelia worked. At first, Cecelia didn't really like the new guy (she was a little territorial), but on Halloween of 2009 they closed down the concession stand together and that's when Cecelia knew she was like totally crushin'. Evan already was. In February 2010, Cecelia asked Evan to watch a movie after work and he finally got the hint that she was into him. They were inseparable until Cecelia went to college in Lake Forest, IL, and they spent the next two years going back and forth to St. Paul, MN. Long distance took its toll, and they decided to take some time apart. Three years went by as they tried to grow, move forward, and explore the world separately-- the whole time they kept in touch and had hope that life would bring them back together. In June of 2015, Evan and Cecelia made the choice to start fresh and see where a life together would take them. It's been 10 years in the making, and it turns out, they are better together.
After a long day at work, Cecelia came home to Thai takeout and Friends queued up on Netflix. They had plans to celebrate Evan's birthday at his parents' house, but as they drove to Highland Park he took a detour and blindfolded her. Evan brought Cecelia back to the spot where he first saw her 9 years ago, working in the concessions stand at the Highland Theater. Cecelia was completely shocked as he revealed the marquee where the words "CECELIA WILL YOU MARRY ME" were up in lights. She said "OHMYGOD YES" and they walked around the corner to Tiffany's where their family and friends were waiting with champagne.
