We met in the Summer of 2019 after matching on Tinder. Erin was interning in Brewster, NY for an animal-assisted alternative school/residential treatment facility while Melissa worked in Manhattan, NY for an ad-tech agency. We began talking in mid-July and decided to meet for their first date at a bowling alley in White Plains, NY. We immediately clicked and spent 3 hours outside of bowling just talking about our lives. Erin and Melissa spent the next few weeks spending as much time together as they could. Less than a month after meeting, Erin wanted to know where they were progressing. Melissa wasn't looking for anything serious but knew there was something special about Erin she didn't want to lose. Fast forward to Melissa asking Erin if she wanted to be her girlfriend and Erin being speechless and only being able to nod yes!
In the Summer of 2022, we traveled to Brazil to celebrate family friends. They have a beautiful home overlooking an amazing valley and there's a park up the street from their house. Erin convinced Melissa to go for a walk and when we got there Erin said she wanted to take a picture with the stunning view. Little did Melissa know Erin had already walked up there with her mom, picked out the spot, and figured out that she could prop her phone up on a bench to capture the whole thing. While Melissa was taking in the view Erin walked up and got down on one knee. Melissa was totally shocked and honestly just froze! Once Melissa was finally able to speak again, she said yes! Erin texted her parents to come up to the park to celebrate with us, and when they got there they surprised us both by pulling out the ring Melissa had gotten for Erin more than a year earlier. They walked away and Melissa then proposed to Erin and she also said yes. So we had a double proposal! On our 4th anniversary, Melissa surprised Erin with a mini photoshoot with our photographer. Melissa wanted to recreate an iconic picture from early in our relationship in a gazebo. We had needed to get Erin's ring sized and Erin said she really wished it was back from the jeweler if we were getting pictures taken. Melissa got Erin to put on a dress and makeup after work (no small feat we assure you), and we headed to a park with an adorable white gazebo. Toward the end of the shoot, our photographer prompted Erin to turn around saying that she would run up behind Melissa and hug her. Then she had Erin turn around and Melissa was on one knee with Erin's original, now resized, ring. Erin was truly stunned, and Melissa was able to give Erin a surprise planned proposal like she had given Melissa!
