Our Love Story

We joke that Erin knew we would marry before Esteban knew we would date.

His: After years of weekly appointments with his then patient, Erin, it was apparent that she held many wonderful qualities and was quite a remarkable soul. But one day she announced that that day's appointment would be her last, as she was taking a new position and would be moving back up to NorCal to be with her family. A friend to all of the office, we wished her well and told her she would be certainly missed. Some days later, she sent a message via Instagram thanking me for the years of treatment and great interactions and asked if it would be odd to stay in touch. I gladly informed her that the account existed for exactly that reason. Messages flew back and forth with ease and were...rarely about medical matters. Before long we would try a hang out, then two, then three and the connection was quickly apparent. I decided to ask her out on a date (which went REALLY well...spoiler alert!), and then another, and another, and as they say - when you know, you know! And here we are! Hers: The very first time I met Esteban, he asked me about the flower print on my shoes. Every week I would come in for my appointments and chat with all the folks in the office, but something about my conversations with him just clicked. Esteban's thoughtfulness and compassionate, kind heart were always evident, but one day vividly stands out in my memory. I had come in for my appointment during the lowest of lows and not only did he see through my attempt to mask how broken I was, he was able to make me smile and even laugh. I am a firm believer in expressing gratitude and telling people of their goodness, so when I was ready to move back to Sacramento, I wanted to make sure to thank him not only for the healing he had done for my body, but also my heart. Obviously, the move fell through and I ended up sticking around - and what a blessing that turned out to be. After countless gym dates, late night acai outings, and impromptu adventures , we quickly realized that we were exactly who we were meant to be when we were meant to be: each other's, eternally.
