Denver International Airport (DEN) Locals call it (DIA)

Denver is the closest major airport to Vail. All major carriers (including Frontier) fly in and out of Denver. Southwest has direct flights to and from Denver (and bags fly free)! JetBlue flies direct from Boston. It takes about 2 hours to drive from the airport to Vail, and about 1 1/2 hours to drive to Silverthorne.

Airbnb's are quite prevalent and available in Vail (and close to Vail in Avon, Beaver Creek, Minturn and Edwards). Nina and Erik live in Summit County and some may choose to stay there (= Frisco, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon and Keystone). These towns are 20 - 30 minutes east of Vail. You may also want to try VRBO (another company similar to Airbnb). VRBO accommodations can be searched and booked through Trivago.com or direct through VRBO.

Camp Sites - White River National Forest

For the locals who want to camp in their tents, truck or campers - there are free camp site spots on the 11-mile dirt road to Piney River Ranch. It is suggested to "get your spot" or "save your spot" by popping a tent or leaving a car at the site on Wednesday or Thursday of that week. The sites get filled quickly on the weekends.
