As you all know, COVID-19 has created a lot of uncertainty and it's difficult to predict the timeline for when things will go back to "normal". With that in mind, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our wedding celebration in September. Many of our close friends and family would be traveling to attend (many internationally) and we are unsure about the likelihood of vaccines and safe travel by that time, especially when our guests would be booking hotels/flights/etc soon. While we will not be rescheduling the wedding, we hope to plan a future get-together once we can guarantee everyone's comfort and safety. As Dillon simply describes this situation "The wedding is off, but the marriage is great". We can't thank you enough for your patience and support as we tried to plan this wedding. It's been amazing finally being together as a married couple, even during such strange times. We can't wait to see and catch up with each and every one of you. Please stay safe, healthy, and happy so we can let loose and party together soon :)
Allison and Dillon met in Te Anau, New Zealand. We were renting rooms in the same house and hit it off right away! Probably because Allison ended up renting the room Dillon wanted (the one with the mountain view). We spent more and more time together, discovering the country and even Fiji.
Dillon always said his proposal would be unique, unforgettable, a surprise and not on the top of some mountain vista. He lived up to all of that when he proposed to Allison late one night at a Boulder bus stop. He had just arrived and Allison was picking him up at a bus stop after class at the University of Colorado. Within a few minutes of saying "Hi", Dillon was on one knee proposing! It was a total surprise and couldn't be more appropriate considering all the hello's and goodbyes they've experienced in airports and bus stops over the years. What started off as a gummy candy ring has been replaced with a raw diamond ring with inlaid wood in the band.
Yep! We officially got married in a small civil ceremony on April 28, 2019 at Lady Bird Johnson Park in Washington DC. We were surrounded by our parents and siblings for an intimate ceremony on the banks of the Potomac River. We can't wait to do it all over again- but this time, with all our friends and family by our sides and ready to party!
