Wedding Party

Robert Harden, Jr.

Best Man

One of Yesuto's earliest friends after his family moved to Georgia when he was 9, Yesuto has known Robert for 15+ years. Whether it was playing The Chronicles of Narnia videogames during sleepovers, learning how to do backflips together in their teenage years, or planning a trip to Panama City Beach at the worst possible time of the year, they’ve gone through almost all stages of life together, and they wouldn't have it any other way.

Erica Sheedy

Matron of Honor

As Diana’s older sister, Erica has known Diana for a long time and they have been through a lot together. During high school, they used to drive to school together and every morning they would argue about who was the one causing them to be late that day. Now, over 10 years later and these two are unquestionably best friends. Don’t let anyone tell you that fighting doesn’t get you anywhere. In all seriousness, Erica had always been the best big sister Diana could ask for -- a true role model for her in every way -- and Diana was always there to push and support Erica to be her best. Erica is the (recently married!) Matron of Honor, but she really should be called "Best Woman," and there's nobody better to stand beside Diana on her big day!

Ryan Sheedy

Groomsman

Ryan is Diana's older brother, and Yesuto and Ryan have had the pleasure of getting to know each other over the past few years as Yesuto and Diana have been together. Ryan has always been the best big brother to Diana -- he has always been quick to help with anything she needed, extremely caring and smart, and always her toughest competition with any game they played growing up. When Ryan met Yesuto, he was also happy to help out and offer tips on one of his favorite topics -- exercise and health. So their first few double dates always involved lifting weights and eating A LOT of sushi. Yesuto and Diana are both so honored to have Ryan share in their special day with them!

Deborah Peters

Bridesmaid

Diana and Deborah have known each other for just about 5 years! It was love at first sight when Deborah and Diana's brother Ryan met, and since then Diana has absolutely loved getting closer to Deborah with every passing day. Deborah is one of the most thoughtful people Diana has ever met and she seamlessly fit into the family. She is creative and light-hearted, always warming up the room. Diana and Deborah always bond in particular over their pure joy and love for desserts and wine. :) Diana couldn't be happier that her brother has such an incredible woman and is so honored that Deborah is sharing in Diana's special day!

Obasi Shaw

Groomsman

Obasi is Yesuto’s younger brother, which means that he’s known him for more than 23 years—way longer than Diana has known him. And, come to think of it, since Obasi went to college with Diana, he’s known her for way longer than Yesuto has. It turns out that, as well as being a brother, a groomsman, and a friend, Obasi also happens to be the foremost authority on whether Diana and Yesuto are compatible. Lucky for them, he believes that the answer is yes.

Elizabeth Kim

Bridesmaid

Diana and Elizabeth met in line at school (specifically, at an anti-human trafficking event at Harvard!!), which seemed like a wonderful twist of fate as they would stay best friends for years to come. Since then, they’ve become friends growing together in faith, professionally, and through the messy and beautiful downs and ups of life. Diana and Elizabeth can't be separated: moving to DC together, moving to Deloitte together. Diana has met few people who constantly pour themselves out to love others and she has been so thankful for their friendship. Elizabeth can at any moment make you feel understood and loved, and that everything will be okay. She is also protective like a momma bear so she put Yesuto through an intense questioning session the first time they met. He passed.

Chinedu Okafor

Groomsman

Yesuto and Chinedu first met in the spring of 2012, when Chinedu was deciding at which school to spend the next four years of his life. Yesuto was his host for Dimensions (campus visit weekend) where students came from all over the globe to see if they vibed with the cultish nature Dartmouth is known for. Chinedu values that Yesuto introduced him to what it meant to be an African-American male, of faith, at a largely secular and predominately white academic institution—in the middle of nowhere. And Yesuto values that Chinedu has become less of a mentee and more of a brother over the last 8 years.

Kianna Nunally

Bridesmaid

Kianna and Diana became friends while they were both at Harvard for undergrad. They met again through Harvard College Faith and Action, the Christian fellowship that became like family to both of them while at Harvard. Kianna and Diana’s friendship started with discipleship, as Diana was the assistant bible course leader for Kianna’s sophomore and junior bible courses. But it quickly grew to late night sushi study breaks, long walks in deep discussion, lifting sessions with loud Christian rap, accidental matching (to Kianna’s horror and Diana’s delight), Diana serving as Kianna’s Chief Bridesmaid, and now, Kianna standing with Diana for her union with Yesuto. Kianna adores both Diana and Yesuto, and cannot wait to be a part of their special day.

Ian Trepanier

Groomsman

Having both just moved to DC after graduating from different colleges at the same time, neither Ian nor Yesuto had any friends in the area. In August 2015, their mutual friend, Shyanne Ninham, came to visit for a weekend. She introduced the two of them over drinks at the most notorious dive bar in the city. Unbeknownst to them at the time, that night at the Brass Monkey was the start of a great friendship and new beginning for their lives in DC.

Autumn Toney

Bridesmaid

Hi! I'm Autumn and I was homeschooled. I was lucky enough to go to UF with Diana’s older sister, Erica (MOH), and met Diana through Erica in DC since she had some questions about starting a nonprofit. Her interests were so similar to my friend Jaymee’s (also in the wedding party, note that I brought them together) that I introduced the two of them to each other through email because #homeschooled. The three of us hung out a bunch and not only did Diana get a new best friend (me), but I got a LOT more friends which is great for me because #homeschooled. In all seriousness, when I look back at the past couple of years so many of my favorite moments filled with laughter, joy, heart-to-hearts, tears, encouragement, and love are with Diana.

Jacob King

Groomsman

To some degree, Jake and Yesuto met for the first time many times, as they moved in the same homeschool circles for a few years before becoming close. But it was on the side of a mountain, volunteering at a summer camp in their early teens, where they really hit it off. They’ve debated time and space and have enjoyed the finest of wines and cuisines from across the world together. Together with Robert, their adventures have been endless.

Jaymee Hindawi

Bridesmaid

"Jaymee is the friend Diana adores the absolute most. Of Diana’s bridesmaids, she is the first to cry during an SPCA dog commercial and the last to grow up and get a real job (still debatable). Jaymee loves Jesus, traveling, mental health advocacy, and Kristen Bell. Her favorite memories with Diana involve salsa dancing and getting beat by elementary school boys in paintball." -- Jaymee Diana and Jaymee met in DC through Autumn (too bad they can't get rid of her yet) based on their shared interest in human rights. The first time they hung out, they talked for hours as if they had known each other for years. Diana could always count on Jaymee to be a true champion and to be there no matter what, as Jaymee could read Diana like a book and always showers her with love.

Kaid Ni Ray-Tipton

Groomsman

As Kaid and his spouse, Marla, have the pleasure of living one neighborhood away from Diana and Yesuto (yes, be very jealous), they have enjoyed double dating as young couples in love. It's rare to find "couple friendships" where all four people love spending time together in a seamless and jovial manner, while discussing anything from faith to politics, and they do not take it for granted.

Alexa Pereda

Bridesmaid

"Although knowing each other just over a year, Diana and I understood each other’s hearts very quickly. As someone who constantly believes in me and sees me for who I am, I am so grateful for this friendship. Diana’s energy and ambition are inspiring and I admire her for that so much. Also our mutual love for margaritas doesn’t hurt #IAPeep4ever " -- Alexa Diana and Alexa worked on the same team at Deloitte and every single day of work was full of laughter, heart-to-hearts, and a constant list of inside jokes (Latin). Diana always knew she could turn to Alexa to just share life with and has always loved how Alexa truly brings out the best in people with her love, compassion, joy and fiery personality. She also is going to be the first on the dance floor so WATCH OUT WORLD!

Ryan Zell

Groomsman

The only person Ryan has ever met to be able to convince him to run though a metric ton of mud and not mind getting sick or severely injured is Yesuto Shaw. The two of them met in the spring of 2017, having both been roommates with Bassam Shawl at various points in their lives. One of the first times they hung out for an extended period of time was on a weekend trip to complete a Tough Mudder in Pittsburgh in the fall of 2017. It’s been all uphill from there. Team G and T will always reign supreme.

Emma Klugman

Bridesmaid

“Diana was one of the best things that happened to me in my freshman year of college (and if you know Diana, you’ll know “happening to you” can be how she operates). Through a lot of thoughtfulness, care, laughing, and hugs from Diana, and crying from me (which she only teases me about a lot), we forged a close friendship that has brought me a lot of joy. I’m excited to celebrate Diana and Yesuto’s joy together, and to continue to tease Diana for the rest of our lives.” -- Emma Diana and Emma met when Emma joined the Christian fellowship at Harvard. Emma constantly pretended to be annoyed/embarrassed by Diana, but that made Diana only love her and hug her more. It wasn't long until Emma realized she needed to mentor Diana. Emma will always have a special place in Diana's heart.
