The Wedding Website of Mia C and Dave D
We're so excited for you to join us in Kelowna, one of our favorite places in the whole world. We've come up with a list of suggestions for places to stay and ways to get around to help you plan out your stay. Kelowna gets especially busy in the summer time; people flock in during the hot months to enjoy the wineries, beaches, hiking trails, and incredible views. It is for that reason we would suggest planning your stay and booking accommodations as early as possible to ensure you find something that suits your needs. The Okanagan area encompasses multiple cities around Okanagan Lake. The larger cities include Kelowna, West Kelowna, Penticton, Summerland, and Lake Country. Kelowna has the city core and downtown area and probably the most choices for hotels. Across the water (crossed by bridge) is West Kelowna, the second largest city in the area, which also has hotels, wineries, hiking trails, etc. See the "Hotels" page for info on hotels that agreed to offer group discount rates.

Travel Note

Wedding Venue location

Our wedding venue, Gray Monk Estate Winery, is located in Lake Country, just north of Kelowna. The venue is about 30 minutes drive from downtown Kelowna. Lake country does not offer as many hotels, restaurants, and shops as Kelowna does, so we would suggest staying closer to Kelowna or West Kelowna. We have reserved a shuttle bus service to take people from Kelowna to the venue on the actual wedding day and back to Kelowna after the reception. The pickup location for the shuttle bus is at the Delta Grand Okanagan Hotel in downtown Kelowna. Pick up for wedding party & spouses, and immediate family will be at 1:15 pm. Pick up for other guests will be at 2:15. Please do not be late, as the shuttle may have to leave without you. The return shuttle bus will be leaving the venue at midnight (when the reception ends), and will make stops at every guest's hotel for those staying in or near downtown Kelowna. If you prefer to return earlier, Uber is also a viable option. If you have your own vehicle, free parking is available at the venue.

Info on Short-term Rentals

Due to the housing crisis, there has recently been regulations added to restrict short-term rentals in the Kelowna area like Airbnb and VRBO. As such, it may be more difficult to find a short-term rental and you may need to opt for a hotel instead. We have found multiple hotels willing to offer group rates and those have been added to the "Hotels" page.

Flight

Kelowna International Airport

5533 Airport Way, Kelowna, BC V1V 1S1 Catching a flight into Kelowna Airport would be the easiest way to get to Kelowna. But if you'd prefer flying into Vancouver International Airport or Abbotsford International Airport, you can rent a vehicle and drive to Kelowna which would be about 4hrs from Vancouver Airport and 3 hours from Abbotsford Airport.

Travel Note

Uber and Taxi

Uber has recently arrived in Kelowna and can be used to travel around the city and surrounding areas.

Travel Note

Kelowna E-Scooters

Kelowna has a pilot project for e-scooters that are shared like e-bikes around the city. It's a cheap way to get around the city if you aren't going too far and are ok with using a scooter. The scooters do come with helmets.

Rental Car

Car Rentals

There are many of the usual car rental shops by the Kelowna Airport and in the city of Kelowna, such as Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, Avis, and more. We haven't personally had to rent a vehicle while visiting Kelowna as we always drive down, so we cannot make personal recommendations based on our own experiences but Google should be able to help out with seeing reviews.
