Alec and I were complete strangers upon meeting each other. My best friend, Bailey, and I were on our annual girls trip. We chose Fort Worth Stockyards that year. On our trip down to Texas we last minute bought tickets to watch Mike Ryan play at Billy Bob's for that Saturday, July 10th, 2021. Alec and his family took a last minute family vacation to the Fort Worth Stockyards. His sister suggested this trip, and Alec wanted his parents to see Mike Ryan play. Come Saturday night, Bailey and I walked into Billy Bob’s and stopped at the top step above the dance floor to take it all in. That is where Alec spotted me and had that "aha" moment. Bailey and I left to walk around and eventually made our way back to the dance floor. At this time, I just wanted to two step at the World's Largest Honky Tonk. I spotted Alec. He was dancing with someone and I noticed how good of a dancer he was. I told Bailey that I was going to ask him to dance. Her response, "His girlfriend isn't going to like that." My response, "By the way they're dancing, that's not his girlfriend." I was right, as it was his sister, Taylor. Coincidentally, the area we were standing at was right next to the table his parents were sitting. Alec had spotted me by now and thought, "Great, I'll take a break and then ask her to dance after the next song." He was walking off the floor and I say, "You look like you know how to dance." I stole his thunder. He then took me on the floor and we hit it off immediately. Thankfully I did ask him as that was the last song before the concert began. We had split ways and he did not get my number then. Bailey and I had VIP tickets to sit at the tables which came with our own servers. Alec's family did, too. I say this because throughout the whole concert, Alec and I were constantly getting up to go to the bars to order beers in hopes that we would find each other. Looking back, we kept going to opposite bars. By the end of the concert, I went back to the floor to dance. Alec told his family that he would Uber back to the hotel if he had to, because he was not leaving until he found me and got my number. So, instead his family stayed out as late as needed in order for him to find me. Fortunately, he did and we danced for the rest of the night. His mom finally told him, "Unless you've found the love of your life, we are leaving." Looking back that was the funniest thing she could have said. July 10, 2021 was the day we met, but we call that day our anniversary as we haven't stopped talking since then. So, this is why our life and our wedding is called, "The Dance of a Lifetime."
