Catherine and I met through a mutual friend several years ago. Instantly, Catherine was a lot of fun to be around— but even more so I noticed how kind and respectful she was. Admiring her wit and talent, I really hoped we could become better friends with time. Eventually, she invited me to hang out with her as she worked on a big art project, and I joined her... way more often than she expected. Things spiraled out of control not too long after that, and... well, here we are now! Very good friends. Who are getting married. ❀ Edward et moi nous sommes rencontrés par ami commun. Dès le départ, j'avais beaucoup de respect pour Edward et je pensais qu'il était une bonne personne à avoir pour ami. The wildest part of my proposal to Catherine was the ring. I knew I wanted to propose to her when I visited her in Tokyo, but for various reasons I couldn't get ahold of the ring before leaving the states... so I had it delivered to her home! Even more wild, the seller required a phone number in Japan (in case something went wrong)... and so I gave them Catherine's number, gambling that they wouldn't actually contact her! To my luck, she ended up getting a text message about the delivery! When she asked me about it, I was very vague about what I had ordered, and she assumed it was some nerd paraphernalia or a game or something. I was able to receive the delivery and hide the ring over the next week. After she treated me to a nice romantic dinner, we spent a cute evening reminiscing before I proposed to her— and she was baffled by the ring. Oh, and she said yes! Hence the wedding. ❀ C'est au Japon qu'Edward m'a demandée en mariage. J'avais prévu une soirée restaurant romantique, et après notre retour chez moi il a commencé à parler de notre relation, de ce que je représentais pour lui, et hop..!! Coucou jolie bague. Il a usé de stratagème pour la faire livrer chez moi la semaine précédente en fait, disant mine de rien que c'était "quelque chose pour plus tard.."

Eventually, Catherine will be moving to California to join me as I finish my university studies. Once we're married, we'll dive into the messy world of visa applications. This process can take up to two years, so it could be awhile until we're actually able to live together. Until the visa is processed, she'll live in Canada. ❀ Les relations internationales présentent leurs défis particuliers. Sans visa, je ne peux pas rester aux États-Unis et vivre avec Edward. Compte tenu de nos situations personnelles, nous avons décidé de faire la demande de visa pendant que je suis à l'extérieur du pays, au Canada. Le processus peut durer de 6 mois à 2 ans, après quoi j'aurai l'autorisation de m'établir aux États-Unis de façon permanente et j'irai le rejoindre en Californie.
