Enjoy the best rafting down the Balsa River. Wildlife abounds in this section of the Balsa, so keep an eye out for sloths, iguanas, howler monkeys and a vast array of tropical birds. However, this trip is not all about relaxation. The rolling, tumbling Class II-III rapids is a fun combination of white water thrills and areas where the water is calm enough to jump in and go for a swim. Upon arrival at the river you'll be geared up with a life jacket, helmet and paddle, then briefed with a full safety orientation talk before taking off down the rapids. After you finish rafting, you'll stop for an authentic Costa Rican organic lunch. Your guide'll then take you for a little walk up in the organic farm, and finish with a taste of the pure sugar cane juice. It'll be possible to view and purchase the photos taken of your rafting before you are dropped off at your hotel.

A hike during the night has its own charms because the rainforest turns active. This tour shows the countrys nocturnal wonders. Starting from the small town of La Tigra, located just 30 minutes from La Fortuna, couples'll go through a patch of rainforest in the process of regeneration. Mirroring lakes allow one to observe the wildlife. Be prepared to immerse into the noisy rainforest and see species like nocturnal birds and mammals, insects, amphibians or bats.

The trail'll go around the lakes to the frog sanctuary, an oasis where couples can watch these creatures in the wild and at night when they are most active. Here couples'll discover various species such as the dart frog and the bull frog, the smallest and largest species in Costa Rica, as well as the spectacular Red Eyed Tree Frog, and the beautiful Glass Frog. When the tour is over, couples'll be just in time for a delicious Costa Rican dinner prepared on a wood burning stove. What can be more delightful than enjoying dinner with the lights of San Carlos Valley looming in from of you? After dinner, couples'll get back to La Fortuna.

This tour begins with a 45-minute ride on a spectacular trail in the forest. La Oropendola Waterfall, with its impressive 82 feet, falls into a bubbling turquoise pool in the exuberant canyon of the Blanco River, creating an incredible tropical oasis. Upon arriving at the canyon, there is a short hike to reach the river. After relaxing and swimming for a while at the waterfall, tour guests will ride back to Hacienda Guachipelin.

Enjoy baths with volcanic mud, pools in the middle of the forest with clay hot springs, sauna, massages, and body treatments, and a beautiful reception area with changing rooms.

For an optimal natural spa experience, start with 10-15 minutes in the sauna to open all the pores of your skin. Then apply pure volcanic clay like a body mask, which comes directly from the volcanic mud pans. Wait for the mud to dry before washing off in the showers. Now its time to relax in one of the three pools with clay hot springs. Finish the treatment with a cold shower so that the pores of your skin can close again, leaving tour guests feeling smooth!
