We're Getting Married!

Their love story started like most other Charlotte transplants; two twenty-somethings who stumbled onto a dating app and a serendipitous match. After a disagreement over the "real Carolina", they met at a cute local spot called Barcelona (i.e. large chain wine bar). The company was so good that one glass of wine turned into one bottle. Before the couple could go their separate ways, the entire restaurant went pitch black. As it turns out, local construction in South End caused a downed power line, resulting in a dark bar. That power's line mishap was their good fortune and an hour of drinks turned into four candlelit-hours of laughs, conversation, and something special. Since then, they have cultivated that "something special" into a beautiful relationship built on true love and friendship. They have weathered two house floods, shared family and friends, and grown careers in oncology that converged with jobs at Levine Cancer Institute in Uptown Charlotte. While they still cannot agree on the real Carolina, they did agree to say yes to forever during late summer of 2023. Come 2023 Cody and Sarah, as many Covid couples before them, had the urge to travel internationally. Sarah, on a 20-year bender of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, made the argument for Greece (Mykonos > Santorini > Milos > Athens). Cody, usually the more logical of the two, helped make that dream a reality while scheming his own plan.

On an idyllic Greek afternoon, Sarah had planned a sunset wine tour while Cody made some plans of his own. Unbeknownst to his future fiancé, he had arranged for the tour to culminate in a sunset viewing above the cliffs of Oia. After a breakneck journey from the last vineyard to beat the sun, Cody got down on one knee and proposed during a surprise photo session above the Aegean Sea. In a fit of tears, hugs, and kisses she said "yes," and if you are lucky enough to be reading this, you are a part of their story.
