Eric and Rachel met the way many millennial New Yorkers might have; on the apps. He asked about the dog in Rachel's photo, she pointed out that they'd gone to the same school for undergrad, and Eric thought he'd seen her in a play after he graduated. They agreed to meet up for drinks. Their first date was at the Dead Poet on the Upper West Side. Eric was running a tad late, and Rachel said she'd be the girl in the corner with a book. He was drawn to her grounded sense of self immediately, and she was drawn to the way he struggled to hang up his coat. Drinks turned into dinner, which turned into a walk along the river, which turned into a second date a few days later. Their dates became adventures around the city. They rode bikes to the Brooklyn Bridge on Memorial Day, they rode paddle boats in Prospect Park on July 4th, they ate slices, went dancing, saw theatre, and adopted their dog, Jamie, from Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Brooklyn. Then towards the end (or right in the middle) of the pandemic, they decided to pick up their lives and move to the Bay Area. And even though they felt like they had left so much behind, they were still able to continue the adventures. They went to movies at the historic Grand Lake Theatre, ordered gourmet mac and cheese from Homeroom on Thanksgiving, found new artistic communities, hiked along the Marin coast, and after much trepidation, Jamie even swam in the ocean. They proposed to one another at the Palace of Fine Arts, which brings us up to now. Rachel and Eric's love has lived in five homes. It has traveled across the entire United States. It survived a pandemic when it was just a year old. It's been around for six years now, and has a strong heart, so they think it's gonna stick around a while. And the adventure continues.
