How we met

Many, many years in the making

Justin and Cherylene have known each other since they were about 10 years old. Both of their dads were in the Phoenix Phil-Am Lions Club, and back in the day, Cherylene was good friends with Justin's sister, Frances. She did not give two thoughts about Justin! When Frances was turning 18 and preparing for her debut, a coming of age party in Filipino culture, she asked Cherylene to be in her royal entourage. Cherylene agreed and called dibbs on pairing up with Justin (so now she was giving some thought about him). It was during the dance rehearsals that Justin and Cherylene bonded over the Phoenix Suns, Indian fry bread, "Sway" by the Pussycat Dolls and texted non-stop. The two started as a dancing pair and now uniting as one! The two have experienced much together. Cherylene told Justin that if he wanted the relationship to work out, her goal of becoming a doctor was was her number one priority, a goal that would be 10 years in the making. Justin was the great support through all the trials and tribulations over the years. He was there for Cherylene when her dad died, when she finally got into medical school, and the endless hours of studying during medical school.

The Proposal

May 19th, 2018

Cherylene finally graduated and fulfilled her dream to become a doctor. With all of her family and friends in Denver, Colorado to recognize her accomplishment, Justin added to the celebration by getting down on one knee and proposing. Justin had stuck it out, through thick and thin, so of course she said yes!
