The Greatest Story Ever Told*

*so far.

It was 7:00pm in windswept Koreatown in Los Angeles. Wilshire Blvd hummed with noise, but less than the usual bustle: facemasks were on, gas was cheap. The pandemic was in full swing, and just as vaccines were hitting pharmacies, so too were young strangers eager to become lovers. At the corner of Normadie and Wilshire was the spot of a first date between Mary Lynne and Will: a lush rooftop greenhouse restaurant, Openaire. Mary Lynne guessed this guy was worth swiping on Bumble just before deleting the app for good. And yet that one swipe led to a match, conversations, and a first date on a roof. Hail-Mary swipes are mysterious things that typically lead to food. What was NOT mysterious was the bangin' tuna tartare. A minute contained two tartares, four hours, six drinks, and an eight A.M. hangover. But this confirmed that these two were perfect for each other. And they enjoyed a good tuna. Their first summer together, they were inseparable. Except they WERE separable, as Will would leave for a month at a time. It wouldn't hurt Mary Lynne too deeply, except when he returned her cat Obi-Wan Katnobi still favored him over her. In frustration, Mary Lynne locked him out of her home when he had critical meetings, forcing him to have coffee with her at the Hollywood Starbucks**. Furthermore, she decided to move across the city to Marina del Rey for the sun, beaches, and Brannan's turtle races on Thursdays. **she was also locked out of her home, and claimed it was an accident. But this new LA long-distance did not deter Will from keeping Mary Lynne's heart, and spent as much time as possible traversing the 10 between East and West Side. For over a year, the duo ate Capri gelato, surfed in Kawaii, saw the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, met the families, made carbonara, and went to Disneyland too many times. But the distance still sucked. And so, the duo moved to Phase II: "The Movening", as they settled in a rental house nestled in Los Feliz. It was a quaint home quickly filled with friends, good meals, Halloween candy, and a corgi puppy that found the furniture particularly chewable. For two more years, Cherrylynne (as Kemana Otosi aptly named) continued their grand adventuring together: shredding the highest peaks of Big Bear Mountain, dining aboard the Eurostar in the Chunnel to Paris, learning Michelin Stars are actually not that rare, go-karting aboard a ship off Alaska's coast, throwing (multi-sided) dice, and training Chef to be a goodest boy (they tried). Two years in the home served them well, but as Chef Coyargee continued to grow larger, the home continued to feel smaller (and honestly less affordable). While on an anniversary excursion to Costa Rica to swim in waterfalls, make chocolate, and rappel cliffs, it was then that the couple decided on a bigger change: to get Engaged, or er, to move to the Pacific Northwest. And so (we're nearly done!) the lovebirds packed up all their things and made the drive with Obi and Chef to a new life in West Seattle, Washington. Within a year, they added to their adventures with Tokyo shows and Hokkaido snows, Seattle troll-searching, and cozying around their fireplace. Of course, one of their favorite things to do is simply look out the window: across the Puget Sound lies Bainbridge Island, where they knew they'd start the rest of their lives together... Legally in the eyes of some form of "government". And they are so delighted you're joining them in celebration. Thank you!
