FAQs

The Wedding Website of Molly Shannon Chandler and Nicholas Ian Bessaw
We've tried to think of everything you may need to enjoy your trip to Idaho, Mccall, and our big day! But, we're a little preoccupied lately... (Thoughts of our "World's Colliding!", Ensuring everyone has an enjoyable vacation, and that little thing of vowing the rest of our forevers to one another! ...Little things like that!) Before you call/text/email the bride and groom, ask yourself these three little questions: 1. Have I already exhausted my resources without an answer? (Hint: Also try www.mccallchamber.org, www.mccall.id.us, and www.cityofdonnelly.org) 2. Is there ANYONE else I know who could answer this question? (Hint: Family of the bride/groom, Hotel concierge, Chamber member, Flight attendant, Your own conscience...) 3. Have you read through every FAQ below, without an answer? ...Ok, so you STILL have a yearnin'-burnin' question? Than shoot us an email at TeamChansaw@gmail.com and we--- Molly will get back to you as soon as she can!
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please respond by July 15th so we can finalize things with our vendors. Thank you!

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We recommend booking in advance, as August 17th is nearing the last big weekend of McCall summer tourism, and places will definitely book up! Don't forget to check out www.airbnb.com and www.vrbo.com as there are many rentals in the area. For hotel options, please see the "Travel & Accommodations" tab for more information. We've included all the hotels we would stay in ourselves; there are a few smaller hotels in McCall which we didn't include which are OK little spots (ex: Scandia Inn,) and others which we didn't include which are really not OK (ex: Rustic Inn.) If you are unsure about a place, please feel free to email us at TeamChansaw@gmail.com and we'll try to get back to you quickly.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Is Idaho Cocktail a thing? Think: Cocktail Attire... But leave those stilettos at home! Since they're getting married in the sand, you can go barefoot or wear sandals, if you'd like. Molly would really like if you were dressed nicely, for photos. So maybe hold off on those shorts? IF you don't think you can stand the heat, AND you've taken all the photos the couple could ever want, (Molly's going to want A LOT. Nick will just want a beer;) than the couple won't mind if you change into something a bit cooler, if that means you'll be more likely to play some yard games with them.

Question

Can I bring a guest to the wedding?

Answer

We've chosen to celebrate our wedding as a small, intimate event. Because of this, we have extremely limited our guest list. (Trust us, we have agonized over this for months!) ...If your name was included on an invitation, than we really hope to see you there! If you are hoping to bring a guest, we really hope to meet your special someone on some other beach, some other day.

Question

Can I bring my dog?

Answer

We love dogs but we ask you please leave your furry friends at home.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Unfortunately no. An old co-worker, and now friend of Molly's owns a BBQ restaurant in New Meadows! So, yum! BBQ is on the menu! Sandwiches, beans, salad, potato salad... Things will be tasty, and you can build your own plate. If you have allergies or preferences to have something else, please feel free to pack yourself a little something and we promise not to be upset!

Question

What about alcohol?

Answer

We'll have beer and wine available. Bottom line: We'll keep your glass full, but if you want the hard stuff, or worry you won't like Nick's choice in beer? Bring yourself a little flask, a big bottle, or a bundle of frosted cans. Hey, BYO-Whatever-You-Want is the beauty of the backyard wedding!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Ceremony: There is NO parking allowed on the road. (Per the county. Someone will call, if you try. You will be towed.) Please park at 255 Homer Lane, or the other designated driveway. Because parking is limited, please carpool if you can. Reception: Please park along the right side of the street. Be respectful of the driveways, as many of the homes in the Cul-de-sac are full-time residences.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

It's August in Idaho and the perfect time for a beach day! Anyone who is around for the weekend and didn't get enough fun the night before, is more than welcome to join us on Sunday for a day at the beach, on Lake Cascade! This is one low-key event! Show up if/when the hangover wears off. No RSVP. Come or go as you please, stay as long as you want. BYOE (Bring your own EVERYTHING: Food, Drink, Bathing suit, Beach Towel/Chair, Water-Wings,...) If we have leftover kegs, we'll bring 'em. Cascade Lake Beach location: TBA.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Mid-August in McCall gets hot enough for a bee to take off his yellow jacket! ...Bada-Ch! (I had to sneak in ONE "Bee-saw" joke SOMEWHERE!) Ok, Ok, seriously... Summer in Valley County is summer in all it's glory! 75-90F days, hot sun, "dry heat", and good times! It'll cool down to mid-40s to mid-50s at night... Cool enough to sleep! (Remind us how perfect this summer weather is, next February when we are 15ft of shoveling deep, will ya!!?!) It will most likely be smokey. Sticky-hot-smokey. Just prepare yourself for it.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

The days will be hot, the evenings will be cool. Wedding attire aside, here are a few ideas: Leave the high heels at home! You're in an Idaho mountain resort town. Things are pretty casual around here. Enjoy your vacation. Be comfortable. Comfortable sandals to walk around town, flip flops for the hot sandy beach, shoes for cool nights. Bathing suit, bug spray, sunscreen, beach towel, shorts, tank tops, cool long-sleeves/pants to cover up that high-mountain sunburn! Light jacket for breezy mornings and evenings. Jeans, sweatshirt, fleece/coat for evenings. Hiking boots/hiking clothes if you want to adventure to our alpine lakes. We'd love to recommend some trails to you! A hat & sunglasses! The sun will get ya!

Question

Restaurants Close Early!!! How early, you ask?

Answer

Early. "But, it's only 10pm, and the sun is still up! Is there really NO FOOD, anywhere???" Pretty much. McCall restaurants are notorious for closing their doors whenever they feel like it. (Terrible. We know.) Even the reliable ones lock up by 9 or 10pm, at the latest. Plan ahead. Hoping to last chance food at the Stinker (gas) Station in Donnelly? They lock their doors at 11. Only bets for late night eats? Lardos in McCall will serve food until 11pm Sunday-Thursday, and until midnight Friday & Saturday. Or, The McCall Stinker Station is 24 hours, (Nick recommends the BOMB! Burrito, but Molly doesn't recommend trying to snooze beside someone who just ate one!)

Question

No Uber? No Taxi? I've been drinking! What do I do?

Answer

Plan ahead. In the meantime, the unfortunate answer is that we live in a little town. Tiny. And, Idaho is pretty wonderful about ensuring that there is a limited number of "chain" businesses. ...So, yes there is a Subway, but no, there is no Uber. We have included the number for some local individuals who run taxi businesses, but they don't travel to Donnelly or further without planning ahead, and they very likely will tell you "No" on a busy weekend. (Or just not answer... You DO know how the Bride and Groom met, right!??) The gist: Plan ahead. Call ahead. Have a backup plan. Don't drink and drive. The unofficial motto of Valley County: "Come on Vacation, Leave on Probation." No mug shots, please.

For all the days along the way
