How Me Met

June 8, 2014

Nick had spent a hot day fishing with his friend, catching a few fish, a lot of rays, and a bit of a buzz. Molly had spent a long week training to be a firefighter, and just got back for a weekend of fun with her girlfriends. Nick's buddy talked him into heading to the local bar (The Naughty Yachty!) for a couple more beers. Early in the evening, Molly checked out this really good looking guy, but then she noticed he was looking a bit too "sad faced" for her to attempt cheering him up. Nick's buddy made fast friends all over the dance floor with Molly’s girlfriends, so Molly couldn’t help but wonder, and inquire: What’s the deal with Mr. Sad Face??!? ...Molly learned that Nick wanted to go home, but he couldn't get the cab driver to answer his calls. Molly knew John, the cabbie, always answers to the local bartenders, and since Molly had only quit Lardos a few weeks earlier, he would definitely answer her dial! ....Queue Molly to the rescue! ..............."WHYYYYYY are you TALKING to me..........." So much disdain looked up at Molly as she tried to come to Nick’s aide! ...If only either of them could remember the little details that happened in between! They do know that despite Nick's disbelief, Molly did get him that cab! Then he learned that she was a firefighter, which apparently was cool. (Far better than "a jewelry store worker, or something.") They talked all that night, and on the phone when she went back to Kooskia the next day, and all summer long through spotty service and failed skype calls; they snuck in little weekend visits wherever they could, and somehow they made that summer work. When Molly moved back to McCall that fall, they felt they knew one another much better than most would after just 4 months... So Nick basically moved in to Molly's tiny house..... And the rest is love!

Really? Really? ...REALLY?

February 18, 2019

Nick and Molly hadn't spent a day off together all winter, as one was always working on the other's day off. But finally, a gift was given! A holiday, on Nick's scheduled day off! They decided to head to hot springs and enjoy a burger out at Warm Lake Lodge, and enjoy the day of sunshine! Rocking out to Waylon Jennings and marveling at the lack of snow near the South Fork, they slowly made their way to 16 Mile hot springs, inspecting critter tracks in the road as they went. The perfect day! (Molly even stopped to take a video, because everything was so beautiful!) As they pulled up to the hot springs, in the middle of nowhere, another car pulled in right behind them! The pools aren't very big, so they knew they had a cuddly share ahead of them! But they had driven much too far to turn around. (And, little did Molly know, Nick had a plan!) ...Begrudgingly they changed and headed down to the snuggle pot, where they found themselves in the company of a very nice family, who happily snapped a photo for the future fiance's before they left! With the company gone, Nick found himself empty & climbed out of the pool to grab a beer. As he got back in, he insisted on putting Molly’s beer in her coozie for her, & wouldn't just pass her the can! Why was he being so odd? As Nick plopped down beside Molly he handed her the coozied-beer, revealing a dainty band of diamonds tightly clutched in his other hand, as he asked her, "Will you marry me?" Molly had been waiting on this moment, for just a short amount of time................. (OK she agonized over it!) She couldn't believe it was FINALLY happening! Truly surprised, all she could say, on repeat, was “Really? ...Really? ..........Really-REALLY???" So Nick had to ask if that was a "Yes".... As if that was ever really a question!
