If you're staying in the Bywater/Marigny area then Crescent Park is the park for you! It has much more of an urban vibe than City Park but offers some of the best views of the grand Mississippi River and the walking trail will take you all the way into the French Market which is a vast outdoor flea market filled with delicious street food and unique handmade crafts/goodies. On a typical Saturday morning you can find Daniel and Chands eating brunch at either Alma Cafe or Elizabeths, going on a walk with Oliver through Crescent Park, and then eating Snowballs at the French Market.
Daniel and Chands' friend group from the Kankakee area came down to visit NOLA and their friend Matt (a craft beer connoisseur who just started his own incredible microbrewery, shout out to Knack!) planned a NOLA brewery tour. This is how we were introduced to Parleaux and we are now regulars. Daniel even has a Parleaux Hat. We love going there on Mondays because they have free Red Beans and Rice. Red Beans and Rice Mondays is a thing here in NOLA and we love it so much!
The BEST po boy in town NO QUESTION! FYI: they are cash only. Google describes Frady's as a quaint convenience store offering a variety of groceries also serves classic po' boy sandwiches. Daniel and Chands love this place so much they took their engagement photos here.
We encourage you to grab some sandwiches from Verti Marte in the French Quarter and walk to Congo Square. This is a sacred space in New Orleans as it was a gathering place for enslaved Africans to drum, dance, sing, and reunite on Sunday afternoons. This is the birthplace of dances like the Bamboula, Calinda, and the Congo. This is where so much of New Orleans history (including Mardi Gras Indian traditions and New Orleans Jazz/Blues) was conceived.
