It all started in the land down under...

In February 2014, both Luke and Casey ventured across the world to study abroad at James Cook University in Queensland, Australia. Both going with the intention to explore Oz, drink goon, and meet new people. Neither expected to meet their future spouse. After a month of passing each other in the dorm and casual small talk, Luke caught Casey's eye during a very competitive intramural basketball game (Casey simply said hi to Luke and he was interested). Shortly after that game (and an eventful night out at the local bar, Mad Cow) Luke and Casey started what they thought was a study abroad fling. The rest of their study abroad experience was filled with adventures, games, and Tuesday night shenanigans. After a tearful goodbye, Luke and Casey returned to school, Luke in Southern California, and Casey in Boston. Both went back to their friends telling them all the stories and adventures that took place during their time abroad, and mentioning about how they met someone (but clarifying quickly that they were no longer dating and were just friends). After graduation, Casey joined AmeriCorps with a home base of Denver, CO and Luke began volunteering as a Research Assistant at Colorado State in Fort Collins, CO. Now that both (kinda) lived in the same place, the two managed to continue their so called “friendship.” Luke would drive 3 hours round trip to bring Casey to Fort Collins on the weekends she was in town. Throughout this year, Casey and Luke had many phone calls and chats about what they were going to do next. Both of them did not have set plans after their programs, so of course Luke suggested they do a National Parks road trip! They spent a month traveling, starting in Arizona and ending their trip in California, and camping at all the National Parks they could. It was truly an adventure of a lifetime. On the first night of the trip, Luke told Casey he loved her (really risky, but luckily she said she loved him too). On the last night of the trip, they decided to make their relationship official! No matter where they called home (Denver, Williamsburg, DC, or a tent in Southern Utah) Luke and Casey have been co-pilots on their shared adventure. Now, almost 10 years since their Australian “fling,” both Luke and Casey (and of course Charlie) are so excited to start this next journey together.
