Goodman Theatre
This is where Kelly works. The Goodman's summer musical is an adaptation of MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL and runs until August 11!
Kayak Chicago
This is the company Kelly and Colin kayaked through before becoming "official". A longer activity, but good to do on a not-too-hot day.
Garfield Park Conservatory
Garfield Park Conservatory is a great and free activity for a dreary day! It has a wide variety of plants and exhibits, and is known for it's Fern Room.
Andersonville Neighborhood
Andersonville is a cool neighborhood very close to where Kelly and Colin live (about 30 minutes driving from Oak Park). In 2021, it was voted the Second Best Neighborhood in the world and Best Neighborhood in the US by TimeOut Magazine. We recommend starting at Lost Larson and walking along Clark St. to do some shopping at small businesses, and end the day at Simon's for Glogg Slushies!
Lakefront Trail
Chicago's Lakefront trail is 17 miles long! It is beautiful to walk along at any time of year on any stretch of the trail. Either walk or take a Divvy bike to see the beautiful sights! Kelly and Colin live at the north edge of the trail, and we recommend stopping by a beach to relax if you like!
Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio
Frank Lloyd Wright had a hugh impact in Chicago architecture, especially Oak Park where is home and studio are. The Frank Lloyd Wright trust offers various tours and experiences to learn more about his work.
Small Cheval- Wicker Park
Absolutely one of the best burgers in Chicago, and Colin's favorite place to eat out. They just do burgers, fries, and milkshakes - perfect!
The Dearborn
This restaurant is right near Kelly's work and is a great spot for a pre-show meal. It has very good food - the fish and chips were on Beat Bobby Flay - at a very affordable price. Highly recommend!
Chicago Cubs - Wrigley Field
Wrigley Field is a classic stadium! The Cubs are at home the weekend of the wedding and play rivals St. Louis Cardinals - it's sure to be a good game! Take the green line to the red line (toward Howard) and get off at the Addison stop - the field is 1 block from the train, and there are many restaurants and bars in the surrounding neighborhood.
