While on her friend Abigail's bachelorette trip, Carina received a text from her friend Will Tomlin that read, "Fun question—could I set you up on a date with my good friend Barrett Packard? I think y'all could hit it off!" Carina quickly replied, "I would for sure be interested! I trust your judgment—if you think so, then I'm in!" Will’s description of Barrett was short but promising: "Great guy, police officer, loves the mountains, golf, and is a great storyteller." Two days later, Carina and Barrett met in the most unexpected place—the Denver International Airport. Due to hours of delays, Carina feared she would not make their date in time, but true to Barrett’s character, he offered to pick her up from the airport and patiently waited for her for two hours! To say Carina was impressed would be an understatement. His kindness, gentleness, and intentionality that night was just a glimpse of the many qualities Carina would grow to love about Barrett. Her beauty, kindness, and desire to get to know the heart of a person would be many of the qualities about Carina, Barrett would deeply fall in love with over the next two years. From the beginning, Carina and Barrett shared an undeniable connection. They rarely went a day without seeing each other, and their immediate chemistry quickly blossomed into something special. Within weeks, they introduced each other to their families, discovering that their lives were already intertwined in unexpected ways. Carina’s mom and sister had attended West Texas A&M University, the same school as many of Barrett’s relatives, and her family had deep ties to the Texas Panhandle, where Barrett grew up. Over the last two years, Carina and Barrett have traveled all across the U.S., grew their passion for hosting and cooking, and filled their days with laughter and connection. To know Carina and Barrett is to have full bellies and even fuller hearts, with stories of Barrett’s work on the streets of Denver and Carina’s deep passion for women’s health.
