On October 19th, 2018, Joy Capponi was at her nephew Michael’s wedding and when she saw Chris dancing alone on the dance floor, and for whatever reason Annie popped into her head. Joy was Annie’s childhood dance teacher and thought that they would “hit it off as friends…or more”. Although Annie lived in London and Chris in Philadelphia, Joy did not let that get in the way! On October 22nd, Joy put Annie and Chris in touch and they spent the next two months slowly getting to know each other over messages and phone calls. Neither of them thought much of it at the time, but decided to connect anyway, figuring, at the very least, they would both make a new friend. On December 18th, Annie and Chris finally got the chance to meet in person. Chris planned an epic first date complete with a stop at Annie’s favorite taco spot and a viewing of her favorite movie (My Cousin Vinny ), details Chris had made note of during their early conversations. Needless to say, the date went well and within two weeks they had met each other's families, taken their first trip to Cedarcroft Farm, and committed to a long distance relationship. After the first six months apart, Chris got his first passport and flew to London for an amazing week where they hung out with friends, explored the city, Chris discovered his love for espresso, and they deepened their love for each other! Between texts, phone calls, and a 5-hour time difference, it became tough to have meaningful time together. Chris came up with the idea of having “coffee dates” where they would spend a couple hours talking over facetime in their respective favorite coffee shops every few weeks. This intentional time together allowed them to continue to connect deeply even from afar and is a tradition that they continue to this day. Annie and Chris spent the next 2 years navigating a long distance relationship until the pandemic forced Annie to move to Philadelphia unexpectedly…or at least that’s what they told themselves. Together, they figured out what it meant to be back in the places where they grew up and redefine what their adult lives would look like here as a couple, not to mention what their relationship looked like being on the same continent. After a year of living together in the Ambler bachelor pad with Chris and his friends, they moved into their beloved apartment on Wayne Ave. There, they’ve built a home together and surrounded themselves with an incredible community of family and friends. On November 13th, 2023 Annie and Chris got engaged! Just like their first date, Chris planned an entire day full of sentimental surprises before asking Annie to marry him with the engagement ring worn by Annie's Great Grandmother and her mom Joan. He proposed on one of their favorite trails in the Wissahickon Woods, a place where they love to go on walks together and hope to continue to long into their future.
