We will have a variety of games available for people to use on Saturday at Camp before the celebrations begin if you would prefer to stay on site! If weather is warm enough there is also river access at camp for swimming.
Mount Hood/Government Camp are about a 45-minute - 1.5 hour drive from Camp Namanu depending on where you go. Some of our favorite spots with no hiking required include Timberline Lodge and Trillium Lake. Some of our favorite hikes we would recommend are: Easy: - Little Zig Zag Falls (.6 miles, 101 ft elevation) - Umbrella Falls to Picnic Rock (3.1 miles, 318 ft elevation) Moderate: - Mirror Lake (4.2 miles, 672 ft elevation) - Tom, Dick, and Harry Mountains (8.2 miles, 1,715ft elevation) - Zig Zag Canyon (4.7 miles, 885 ft elevation) - Laurance Lake High Ridge Trail (6.6 miles, 1,194 ft elevation)
One of our favorite places in Oregon and good for both rainy and sunny days. This is the place to go if you want to see some beautiful waterfalls. Some of our favorites spots with very minimal hiking/walking required are Vista House (good views), Multnomah Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Latourell Falls. Some of our favorite hikes we would recommend are: Easy: Latourell Falls (.3 miles, 22 ft elevation) Moderate: Wahclella Falls Trail (1.9 miles, 308 ft elevation) Beacon Rock (1.5 miles, 574 ft elevation) Latourell Falls Loop (2.4 miles, 620 ft. elevation) Wahkeena Falls and Multnomah Falls Loop (5.1 miles, 1,640 ft. elevation) Hard: Angels' Rest (4.5 miles, 1,489 ft elevation) - incredible views of the Gorge
Hood River is one of our favorite nearby cities and about 1 hour away from Camp Namanu. It has a cute downtown, restaurants, a great selection of breweries and close by wineries. On a sunny day you can walk down by the water and watch windsurfers on the Columbia River.
