Hood River is about an hour east of Portland. Many hotels in the area are already booked up since Hood River is a popular destination in the summer. The closest nearby town is White Salmon, WA which is across the river about 10 minutes away. Some other options are Cascade Locks, OR (about 20 minutes away) and Stevenson, WA (about 30 minutes away).
