Washington, DC is beautiful year-round, but February is definitely brisk! Expect daytime temperatures in the 40s and pack a warm coat, hat, and gloves. Even with the winter chill, there’s so much to explore:

Georgetown

Georgetown is the best neighborhood in DC and at the top of this list for a reason! It holds a special place in our hearts as we’ve had many dates there, and Calla graduated with her Master’s from Georgetown this past year. This historic neighborhood is full of cobblestone streets, waterfront views, and some of the city’s best shopping and dining. Wander along M Street and Wisconsin Avenue, stroll the C&O Canal, or stop at one of the many cafés and restaurants tucked into charming rowhouses. Whether you’re looking for history, boutique shopping, or a cozy spot for dinner, Georgetown is always worth a visit.

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

10th St. & Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560

One of DC’s most popular museums, the Natural History Museum is home to the Hope Diamond, dinosaur fossils, and world-class exhibits on everything from ocean life to gems and minerals. Admission is free, and it’s an easy walk from the National Museum of Women in the Arts down the National Mall. A perfect option if you want a classic Smithsonian experience during your visit

Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum

A favorite for all ages, the Air and Space Museum showcases historic aircraft, spacecraft, and interactive exhibits about flight and exploration. Highlights include the Wright Brothers’ plane and the Apollo 11 command module. Admission is free, and it’s located right on the National Mall. Timed entry passes are required on weekends and holidays so be sure to reserve in advance.

National Portrait Gallery

Just a short walk from the wedding venue, and where we had our engagement photos, the Portrait Gallery houses stunning collections of American art, including the famous Presidential Portraits. The museum stays open later than most Smithsonians, making it a great option after a day of sightseeing. Admission is free.

A classic French brasserie on 14th Street, Le Diplomate is one of DC’s most beloved restaurants. The menu features French staples like steak frites, onion soup, and escargots, all served in a beautiful Parisian-style setting.
