Because Caitlin apparently didn't mind the possibility of being murdered, Laurence came to pick her up. He was driving a Tesla, which at the time was a non-controversial choice. It reminded Caitlin of the Papua New Guinean bowerbird, who builds elaborate nests to try and impress the womenfolk. This feeling was compounded when Laurence emerged from the car and began doing an intricate, pre-planned dance, whilst shouting "Look how shiny the dashboard is!"
