We met at a halloween party. Jeff dressed as the Brawny man - and no, he did not bring his own paper towels, instead used the host's, Brian and Olivia Fleming. Brooke dressed as Scarlet Witch, very discreetly, as she only really used what was already in her closet. Needless to say, neither of us are great at dressing up for Halloween. Jeff approached Brooke while she was playing a game and tried to start a conversation. Brooke being the extremely competitive person she is, blew him off. Jeff being the competitor he is, saw this as a challenge and persevered throughout the night. We hit it off. Prior to ending the night, Jeff bargained a date with Brooke. The first date was the best first date either of them ever had - they've been laughing and smiling ever since.
While it was no secret to Brooke that the engagement was coming, Jeff wanted to surprise Brooke (probably for the first time ever). Some may say Brooke is a planner, so Jeff knew she'd play the possible scenarios in her mind and try to figure out when it was going down. Jeff enlisted the help of some good friends to throw her off the scent. They headed to NYC to celebrate in what Brooke thought was a good friend's birthday. On night of Friday the 13th, they went to Rockefeller Center to ice skate. As the skaters were asked to get off the ice, Jeff tried to convince Brooke to get one more lap. The rule follower that Brooke is, didn't allow it until Jeff got on one knee and popped the question. Following the tearful yes, Brooke and Jeff were surprised by some close friends, then many weeks in quarantine.
