Our Story Begins!

Brooke and Calvin met in Castle View High School, 2016. Brooke was introduced to Calvin by a peer and they hit it off from the start. When asked about a specific memory from the beginning, Calvin said: "I made Brooke laugh and thought "I could get used to this!" A few missed chemistry classes later, Brooke and Calvin became great friends and often met up in the morning to walk to class, meeting again later at the end of the day. Even though Calvin graduated High School and left for the Marines, they never lost contact and remained friends for another few years. Then one day in February of 2019, Brooke and Calvin started Face timing more often, often falling asleep on the phone (ask Brooke's parents about the repeated conversations regarding using data). One fateful night on February 26th, 2019, Calvin asked Brooke to be official. Brooke and Calvin continued their long-distance relationship until June 2021 when Calvin was officially discharged. The two moved into their own apartment in Chandler, Arizona until Brooke finished her Bachelor's degree at Grand Canyon University. In 2022, they moved to to Simi Valley, California to build their new life. They worked together at Simi Adventist Hospital, Calvin working in Security and Brooke as an ER technician. Calvin had been thinking about proposing to Brooke for awhile and had just picked up the ring. After telling a tearful Mom and asking permission from Dad and Brother, Calvin decided it was finally time to propose on Memorial Day weekend at Brooke's grandparents River House. Brooke told Calvin numerous times: "Please make sure I am in a dress when you propose!" Calvin told Brooke that he was going to bring her on a fancy date and to PLEASE bring a dress to which, of course, Brooke did not, as Calvin found out upon arrival. He made a quick gesture to Brooke's mom, sister in law, and cousin who quickly came up with the idea to go to Target. After finding the perfect dress for "her brother's graduation next week" and the use of Mom's credit card, they were set. The next day, many attempts were made to get Brooke ready for her "date". Brooke finally (and grudgingly) came outside with dress on, hair and makeup done to see everyone sitting down and no games in play. Calvin led Brooke up the stone path to the top of the pool, got on one knee, and said "Will you make me the happiest man on Earth and be my wife?" We are so looking forward to all of you being here while we celebrate being Husband and Wife!
