Briony’s Mom
This woman is the ultimate role model, living her values by working tirelessly for a child’s right to education in Chicagoland’s U-46 school district leading the math and science departments. She also volunteers in her community and is a world class mom. Since retiring, she has volunteered much of her time with her Unitarian Universalist congregation in many roles (including Board Chair) and the Sierra Club to try to protect our Earth through policy advocacy. She’s super special, so give her a pat on the back for being her.
Briony’s Dad and Step-Mom
These two wonderful people have been a constant support in Briony’s life welcoming her on visits to Pennsylvania to stay with them and their adorable fur-family (Luther and Joey were Briony’s first cat obsessions) and visiting places like the Poconos, and New York City (Broadway, yeah! Circle Line Tour, Nay!). They have both spent their careers in public service as social workers helping the vulnerable residents in the Allentown and Bethlehem area live independent lives with dignity. Genie is busier in retirement than while working. She tutors a young immigrant mother as well as plans fabulous weekend getaways for herself and Ray. These two have taught Briony how to live a full life of service while overcoming life’s many challenges.
Brian's Dad
Ben taught that profanity comes in strings with hominas. The mantra was always do your best, but the focus on getting things done. And the sooner the better. He guided Brian’s love of travel and going places; they just had different ideas of what to do once they arrived. Ben provided the contemplation and appreciation of nature and scenery, and the love of baking bread. Ben also taught B&B how to count cribbage hands.
Brian's Mom and Step-Dad
Pat and Gregg are enjoying their retirement from the halls of learning with lots of gardening and travel. Gregg is an expert of model trains and puns. Let that sink in for a moment; no, that's a boat pun. Let's get this back on track. That's better. He's a decent fellow living his dreams of modeling, as well as writing articles and presenting on said models. Patricia provided her son’s preferred but very seldom used profane term (exempting phrases from Aliens and Ghostbusters). She taught Brian his love of cooking dinners, wines, and some semblance of refinement. More importantly, she provided the meticulous and exact nature. The focus of getting things right.
Brian's Sister
If Mom and Dad taught the getting things done right and right now, then Jennifer taught Brian to dream and to make believe. Whether she was guiding the books Brian read, the Lego designs he built, or the names of things… the Nugget was the muse of imagination. She led him into his love of cartography (VARN) and strategizing. She was his first editor when he started writing. Jennifer taught her brother how to do get those things done his own way.
