Flight
You will want to fly in to Costa Rica's capital city, San Jose, to the Juan Santamaria International Airport. You can catch a commuter flight on SANSA airlines for about $70 into the Quepas airport, relatively close to the villa. You may also choose to rent a car or book for the 3 hour drive to Manuel Antonio. We will provide van transportation on Sunday and Monday departing once each day.

Briony and Brian are arriving in San Jose on Saturday, September 28 and will stay the night at the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen in Heredia. They have an airport shuttle and their rooms start at $147 per night. We will be heading out the next morning to Manuel Antonio and the villas.

September 29, 2019 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
The fastest way to get from SJO to Manuel Antonio is on Sansa Air on a commuter flight to the Quepos airport. We will arrange transportation for you from there. However, if you are not comfortable with a commuter flight, we will provide van transportation on Sunday from San Jose to the villas in Manuel Antonio. We will leave at noon on Sunday Sept 29 from the Marriott Hacienda Belen and will swing by the airport on our way.
Hotel
We are renting two villas in Manuel Antonio from Sunday, September 29, 2019 - Friday, October 4, 2019. Check out Casa Fantastica and the Tree House websites (in the successive posts) to get an idea of the luxury you are in for! While we tried mightily to figure out how to pay for everyone's accommodation and food, the budget gnomes laughed mercilessly in our faces. Thus, the price per night is USD $200 per person per night (assuming double occupancy) or USD $316 per room (assuming single occupancy) and will include all food and beverages (soda, beer, wine, and local rum), as well as a chef for two meals a day. We ask for your RSVP by March 30, 2019. We will need to know how many people in your party will join us and the nights you will want to stay to see if we need to put a deposit on a third villa before they book up. A deposit will be due to us by July 1, 2019, and your final payment will be due by August 15, 2019 so that we can make our final rental payment.

Casa Fantastica is one of the most beautiful homes in all of Costa Rica. There are ten bedrooms (three master suites plus seven comfortable bedrooms) with ten full and three half bathrooms. The ocean views from the pool and balconies are simply spectacular. The atmosphere of “modern tropical luxury” envelopes you as you enter the home. Private Chef services are included as well as the cost of food and beverages (soda, beer, wine, and local rum). Constructed in 2009, the owners of this resort-style home have designed and built some of the finest and most luxurious homes in the area.

Fresh ocean breezes and tropical bird songs cradle this villa overlooking the rainforest. Sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and Manuel Antonio Park are visible from the kitchen, living areas, pool, decks and almost every room in the house. The villa interior design is Balinese inspired as well as locally used materials. It is truly a stunning tropical luxury retreat. The kitchen and dining area is an open communal space, inviting for quality time with friends and family. The open-air living room provides a place to sink into the over-sized, well-appointed furnishings and cushions. All six bedrooms are air-conditioned, with en-suite bathrooms. All have wide views of the Pacific ocean and rainforest. Each bedroom has artisan’s hand carved stone or glazed earthenware custom details, custom stonework and tile, exotic hardwoods and original art from around the world.
Flight
We recommend that you hop on a commuter flight from San Jose's Juan Santamaria International (SJO) to Quepos Airport (XQP). These commuter flights don’t seem to be available just yet. We anticipate them opening up in March. You can also rent a car and drive the 3 hours from San Jose to Manuel Antonio. Let us know your travel plans so we make sure to welcome you properly!
Travel Note
The CDC recommends that travelers to Costa Rica get the Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccines as well as being up to date with your regular vaccines. **IMPORTANT: the Hep A vaccines are 2 vaccines administered 6 months apart. You’ll need to get your first booster in March so that you can get the second in September.*** Check out this helpful page for more advice on staying healthy while in Costa Rica. * Many pharmacies provide travel consultations to advise which vaccines are recommended They can also prescribe a Traveler’s Diarrhea antibiotic to have on hand just in case you might need it. Walgreens is one pharmacy that offers travel vaccines. Check out their website: https://www.walgreens.com/topic/immunization-services/travel-health.jsp
