Flight
We recommend flying into Dubrovnik airport, located a short bus or taxi ride away from the town. For those flying from the New York or Philadelphia areas, there may be direct flights, or flights with one layover in another European city. Flights will be scheduled starting in October 2025, so we recommend researching and booking early! Note that flying to Split or Zagreb will of course get you in-country, but will still require a connecting flight or other means of transportation to get to Dubrovnik.
Travel Note
There is an official airport shuttle that goes between the airport and several stops in Dubrovnik, as well as public buses. You can also take a taxi or ride-share. Note that if you are staying in the Old Town, you will be dropped off at one of the town gates and then walk to your accommodations. Car rental is only recommended if you plan on seeing more of Croatia than just Dubrovnik, for example if you'd like to travel to Split, or even the nearby countries of Bosnia & Herzegovina, or Montenegro.
Travel Note
There are many, many places to stay in Dubrovnik, both within the historic Old Town and in the more modern parts of the city. Most are smaller hotels or Airbnbs, with a few larger hotels located outside of the Old Town. We do recommend booking your accommodations early, as September is still a popular time for tourists to visit.
Travel Note
We HIGHLY recommend extending your trip to Dubrovnik/Croatia/Europe beyond our wedding weekend. As our European or frequently traveling friends now, it is typically very affordable to travel within Europe, and there are very cost-effective flights between Dubrovnik and other cities. Whether you want to stay along the Dalmatian coast, head to nearby cities like Budapest or Vienna, or hit up another country like Portugal or Italy on your way back home, there are so many opportunities.
Travel Note
The EU is implementing a new IT system for registering non-EU nationals traveling through member states' borders. The EES goes live in October 2025 and will be a requirement for most of our wedding guests in order to enter Croatia, but will be a simple step accomplished at the airport. According to the EU's website, you can even shorten this process by completing some steps in advance. Note, this is NOT a visa, and there may be minimal associated costs. Please make sure to check the website listed a few months before October 2025 when more information is released.
