The historic main street of the Old Town, the Stradun is the center of life for the residents and visitors in this part of the city. With many restaurants, bars, historic buildings, and more, you actually cannot visit Dubrovnik without passing through this scenic area!
We walked around the entire Old Town atop the city walls, and were treated to every spectacular view from every angle of the town and the surrounding area. You can enter the walls at the Pile Gate, the Ploče Gate, or St. John's Fortress.
The original port for the important trading town, this area is now used for the various boat tours and excursions that travel to the waters and islands around Dubrovnik. Complete with restaurants and picturesque views, you can also see our wedding venue from the port, and this area will be the most notable part of the view from our venue.
Climbing the side of Mount Srd above Dubrovnik is the famed cable car, offering incredible views of the town, the surrounding area, and the Adriatic Sea. The trip takes just a few minutes, and there are plenty of vistas atop the mountain.
Banje Beach is the most popular public beach in Dubrovnik, and the closest to the Old Town. Even this close to the harbor, the water is beautiful, and the views of the Old Town and Lokrum Island are incredible. As with many Mediterranean beaches, the area is more rocky than sandy, so water shoes are recommended. The best way to enjoy this beach is by renting a chair at the beach club, and enjoy the food and beverage service provided by their staff.
Lokrum is a famous island located just across the harbor from Dubrovnik's Old Town. Accessible by regularly scheduled ferries, go to Lokrum for the beautiful beaches, salt lake, botanical garden, and more. We actually didn't make it to Lokrum last time, but plan on taking the short ferry ride in the days following our wedding, so feel free to join us if you plan on extending your stay in Dubrovnik!
In addition to Lokrum, there are many islands off the Croatian coast. There are a variety of boat tours that leave from Dubrovnik for snorkeling, beach hopping, booze cruises, and other activities. Check out Tripadvisor, Viator, Get Your Guide etc. to see all the options (and let us know if you want us to send you what boat we went on)!
